Mefou National Park is the forest sanctuary of charity Ape Action Africa, which works on the frontline of gorilla and chimp conservation. Well worth a visit.

This reserve is an outstanding effort to save and give a home to apes. The animals are kept in excellent conditions and it is a rare opportunity to see such species in good health. Be advised that due to the size of the confinements you...More

The entry fee was only about $13 US. It's a rescue park so it is a little run down (avoid the bathroom if you can) but the animals were well cared for and the guide was very informative and pleasant. There is a good variety...More

Méfou is a well run park a short drive outside of Yaoundé. As it is challenging to see wildlife in the proximity of Yaoundé, Méfou provides a great opportunity to see gorillas, chimps, and a range of smaller monkeys. The animals and respected and treated...More

It's about 45 min out of Yaounde; if you share the cab it's not too bad. I bargained the taxi ride to 32,000 francs ($60). A little steep but it was worth it. The entrance fee was 7,500 francs ($15). Wasn't too sure what to...More

It's a truly nice spot, hidden in the jungle. From Yaoundé, unless you take a "dépôt taxi" that can go straight to Mefou, you need to go to Mvan (all bus agencies are there). From there, take a taxi to Mefou (400-500 FCFA). Once arrived...More

The best way for you to go there is to hire a private taxi. The taxi can pick you up at your hotel, wait for you while you are at the park, and bring you back to your hotel. You might have to spend a few dollars more on them... More
