Burundi day trip to Gishora drum sanctuary

Led by local guides, these transfers are suitable for any travelers who need to see Burundi privately. In this country, the value of music has proven to be significant to the culture. And, one of the most celebrated cultures is the playing of historical drums. The drums were much more than simple musical instruments. During the royal times, the drums were announcing major events for the king. Those are like a royal coronation, funeral, and weddings. Locals play the drums at major events, particularly during national and international events. They still respect drums just as their ancestors did. Welcoming everyone with warm smiles is the way of life here in Burundi.

Augustine Tours ensured every single detail of my trip in East Africa (Rwanda, Uganda, DRC and Burundi) was carefully (and wisely) organized. Based on their experience, they can guide you to customize one of their basic itineraries to focus on your own priorities. They always engage into an efficient communication as well. I am totally satisfied with Augustine and his team. My local guides were Eugene and Hypolite: outstanding performance from both of them! I highly recommend Augustine Tours.

Did a customized, fully packed 2-day tour with Augustine Tours. We went to the source of Nile, the waterfalls, Gitega, Rusizi and Kibiri National Park. Whilst the source of Nile and Karera waterfalls are not spectacular as itself, the Drum show and the walk in the Kibiri National park was though! The landscapes are beauttiful! The highlight of the trip though was the guide Hippolite, whom I can highly recommend. A very nice, gentle, professional and customer focused guide, who can share a lot of knowledge about Burundi. The only negative thing is that the price was expensive for a (full-packed) two-day tour

We did a 15 day trip to Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi with Augustine Tours. The itinerary was excellent, the hotels well thought out with choices and the trip moved very smoothly. We had the same driver, Eugene, for the 12 days in Uganda and Rwanda. He really made the trip because he was so courteous, and looked after the little things. Like he cleaned the car (which was in great shape and had A/C) every night! We set a plan each evening for the next day and he was always ready early. Travel in those countries is not easy but he was great at finding restaurants and bathrooms that were clean, and he was good at suggesting changes to the itinerary if we were short on time. Augustin was great at answering questions and staying in touch before and during the trip. If I did it over again I would cut one day from Burundi because that country does not have good museums that we experienced and the best thing were the Gishora Drum sanctuary. We had a different driver in Burundi but same car and we did not connect as well but he also did a good job. I would certainly recommend Augustine Tours for those Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi. Again the itinerary was perfect and included thoughtful and unusual items in addition to the usual gorilla and chimpanzee trekking which were awesome. We also book a week in Tanzania with them but they outsourced it to another Safari company BMS Safari. That part did not work out and I wish Augustine Tours would have told me they were outsourcing it and I would have selected another tour operator. During the difficulties in Tanzania which related to a bad vehicle and driver/ guide that did not speak English, Augustin followed up with me via email and contacted the safari company ( unfortunately no positive outcome resulted) but he assured me he will find another vendor for Tanzania. We had done lots of research on the genocide in Rwanda and the current situation in Burundi and this tour gave us a very in depth look at each of these countries. We saw beautiful wildlife and had varied experiences and a terrific time seeing this part of the world. But many thanks to Eugene for going the extra mile and Augustin for a great itinerary.

Dear Carol,  many thanks for reviewing our services. I have to agree on the fact that the Tanzania part did not work out to keep delivering a pleasant service like the one you had in Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi with your prior 15 days of your east African tour. I truly apologize for that. It is our big concern as a company when such an incident occurs as it doesn’t at all reflects our philosophy and mission: authentic and unique travel experiences benefiting visitors and local employment. Indeed, we have learned much from the incident, and necessary measures have been taken to avoid anything similar that could happen again in the future.  Once again, thanks for having chosen and recommending our services.  Augustin N.

I travel a lot but this Bujumbura city day-tour with Hypolit was something of the best day-tours that I ever did. I stayed in Kigali and flew for a day tour to Bujumbura. I booked this tour on Internet and to pay it in advance to a German bank account. It was not cheap, from a local view even expensive. Yet, everything was perfect. The airport pick-up was perfect and the whole tour which lasted until 17.00, was a perfect day. Especially mentioned was the boat trip on the river, the lunch on a fantastic place (BoraBoar Beach), market visits, fishing village and everything. Hypolit was such a friendly and smiling person, professional and very flexible to all my request. This guy i would select for any other tours in the future. Not to forget the driver. Good car and he drove very professional in a extremly hectic area with a lot of dirty streets. I felt me very secured by his driving style. Was the best day for my week stay in this area.
