Not much to see and the staff were not helpful at all. Found the reserve very neglected. We spent about 2 hours there and littering seems to be a big problem. Lots of empty beer bottles etc. Saw a few aminals, but really nothing much else

Mixt feelings; bad roads and works at several places, so bad that even our new Landrover Defender had some difficulties with all the mud. But very friendly people at the gate and lots of animals to see. We were here for the second time in two years and never have we seen so easily water monitor lizards has here, and eland antilope for exemple.

Although the rains this year have been excellent, the park suffers from chronic overgrazing during the drought years and is now full of broadleafed weeds and little grass. For some reason they have introduced booking for weekends, maybe to control the volume of picniccers. This means that game viewers have the place to themselves on Saturday and Sunday. The roads and bridges badly need attention.

Although this park does not have the big five it contains a fabulous variety of wild animals. It costs only a few Pula to enter and you drive around at your own pace. The roads are not metaled but reasonably smooth. You need to allow 2 to three hours to enjoy fully, stopping to take photos and watching the wildlife. You can get out and walk if you like. Be careful not to let the monkeys see food!

Just amazing. I have been to several game drives in Africa. Do not expect to see the big 5. But you can expect to see many other animals. And the best things are: it is very very cheap, you can drive with your own car, and there are almost no other tourists there. Highly recommendable.

The Gaborone Game reserve is just around the corner in town. The entrance fee is 10BWP per person and 10 BWP for a car. You can also picnic or braai in the game reserve (at a little extra fee). Residents go here on Saturday morning to have breakfast or in the late afternoon to braai. You will encounter zebras, impalas, warthog, ostrich, kudu, monkeys and rock hyrax. It is not possible to go on foot, you will have to drive in this reserve. We went on late afternoon and drove past a group of trees and all of a sudden all of these hyrax were dropping out of the tree (they were probably eating or sunbathing). I have been to this game reserve 4 times now and it is still nice to drive around, never knowing when you will see the animals. Of course the game reserve is nothing compared to Chobe, but a nice place to go if you just need to get out of your hotel room or want to get out with the family. On weekdays entrance is easy, in the weekend you have to book in advance (as they only allow so many people in the game reserve).

There isn't much I can write about this reserve. It was self -drive and I did round trip around the reserve. The roads are not all marked, I ended up on a dead end and hd to turn back, I only saw 2 Zebras, about 4 Springboks and maybe around 10 Warhogs and that was it. It really was a waste of time really.

We went out there with family and friends for a barbecue to celebrate my husbands birthday. We had a lot of fun by the rest park. There are some animals that one can see. Its really a great place to have picnics and barbecues. The only negative thing but can also add fun to the event is the monkeys that trouble people by snatching their food and stuff. Well the kids loved them.

small game reserve, which certainly has potential as a nearby learning center, even for local citizens. However, the entry fee is so very low (approx. 10 pula equivalent to about US $ 1.-), you may not expect any proper maintenance. At the more remote spots, of the reserve, human garbage is accumulating, and it really is a pity, to see nothing more is done to improve on the nice collection of endemic species (Zebra, Eland, Ostrich, Warthog, various bird species etc. My advise: Clean up your act, increase price dramatically, so you can have some proper improvements done, invite your local pupils to learn about the beauty of Africa!

The Gaborone Game Reserve is right on the perimeter of the capitol city. I was able to spend about 3 hours in the reserve unwinding from a busy work day. The park does not house the Big 5, but does have a variety of mammals, birds and reptiles. I was most impressed by the use of the park to educate local children and adults in the Gaborone area.
