The Tamuka Travel experience was great! The locals seemed to be providing the transportation without a real corporate feel. The drivers where all very nice and helpful. We did three different excursions with Tamuka and all of them where first rate. The contact even came directly to the hotel and sat down and helped us make changes and made sure we got where we were supposed to go.

The Private Falls Tour by Tamuka Travel was excellent. We missed views for about 35% of the Falls length, because of the mist and fog, but since the whole thing is a nature's miracle, we did not mind at all. Drivers, guides and all staff treated us with care, were kind, knowledgeable and very helping with my 87 year old mother.

All the arrangements were perfect. Picked up and taken across the border to Zimbabwe on time. Simon was a great guide and very knowledgeable. Victoria Falls was awesome and the Rainforest was lovely with plants birds and animals. The butterflies were very pretty. Excellent lunch with great view of the bridge and gorge. Markets and cultural tour interesting in how people live day to day. High Tea at Visctoria Falls Hotel not to be missed, absolutely wonderful end to the day. I would highly recommend this tour.

The trip is $147 which is not cheap and total waste of money. You can do it yours for free.
Here is how you do it:
Ask a driver or the hotel to get a driver ($15 round trip) to bring you to the Victoria Falls(VF) in Zimbabwe. They have to replace cars in the border. Passing immigration is done in a zip. Both sides have tourist lines and it took 30 seconds.
When you get to the VF entry pay with Credit card $30 and you are in. No need for a tour guide as you walk on the trail and there are signs everywhere. The guide added nothing. Then if you want can get a taxi to the outlook cafe which is very nice!.
Going to the market 1000% waste of time. It a souvenir market and what pissed me off is after I bout small Rino $15 my guide got a cut from the vendor.
Then crocodile tour was looking on 2 frozen Croc. Yes, 2!!!
The VF park is very nice and we were the only mourns with a guide....

Hi nyfoodie2015 Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. Yes, you can organise your own transport to cross the border. You will need to get a company in Zambia to take you to the border and then a company in Zimbabwe to pick you up. This would not be a $15 round trip and you will need to wait on both sides of the border. I'm glad you had an easy time crossing the border but in peak periods this is not always the case and if you are not with a guide you will have to wait in line. I'm sorry you felt that having a guide was a complete waste of time for the park. We provide guides not to show you the way but to tell you interesting facts about the wildlife, geology and history of this famous African landmark from a local perspective. Lot's of people opt to get a guide and they are not "morons" as you have stated. People travel from around the world to see the Falls and I'd highly recommend spending a bit extra to get a guide so that you don't miss things you otherwise would not have seen. I note you enjoyed the lunch provided for you at Lookout Cafe and us taking you there. The souvenir market is very important to the local community and is in fact how many people in Victoria Falls feed their family's. Most tourists really enjoy the art that they create. Doing the crocodile farm tour was not part of the itinerary so I'm not sure why you have included this in your review. Whilst I appreciate you trying to break down our costs to save people money they are in fact very misleading. Once you add up costs for the full time guide, lunch, transfers and time to prepare your trip I think you'll find them very reasonable for a full day. You cannot do it for free.

The tour company did a great job of communicating and was on time for pick up to start the tour. We hustled out to beat the other groups and ensure we each had time to enjoy the swim and get plenty of photos! My favorite part was laying on my stomach and peering over the edge (while my feet were safely being held). Overall great guide, excellent photos and experience!

Excellent company and very knowledgeable guide. There was only my husband and I and another couple in the jeep with the guide which meant we got lots of info. Stopped for Sundowner and finished off with a lovely BBQ in the safari park grounds before being left back to our hotel. Highly recommended

In a nutshell : completely excellent !

More detailed version follows...

Before the Falls :
Day -1: a very kind message received to confirm the time of pickup at the hotel, nice thing !
Day : pickup arrived at exact time, can be noted as it wasn't always the case during the whole trip ! No problem to cross the bridge to Zambia, nobody on the waiting line at the customs.

At the Falls :
Everything was well organized, after a brief security check we took the boat to Livingstone Island, short but funny to see how the guys manage to drive around the rocks. After a small walk, we reached the cliff, put the swimsuits, and swimmed a bit to reach the pool. Impressive view from here, many pics were taken by guys from the crew, who were very friendly and assured a complete security at the same time. We stayed for about 30 mins in the pool, from what I had read before I thought it'd be shorter so staying this long was for sure a nice surprise ! And it was of course fun to say hello to people visiting the falls from the other side... just have to guess how many were thinking "these guys are crazy to swim in such a pool" !

My wife was finally too scared to swim and reach the pool, so she stayed at Livingstone island. She told me it was anyway a great experience for her, all passing members from the crew were very kind towards her, asking if she was ok, giving her some water, ... So she also sends a warm thank you, and promises she'll try again next time we're there !

After the pool, we were supposed to have a drink... but that turned out to be a complete meal with drink at will (only time I saw this during the trip in South Africa/Zimbabwe/Zambia, so it has to be noted)... There was so much to eat that we didn't eat anything in the evening once back in the hotel ! So this was great as well :)

After the Falls :
Our driver was waiting for us to get us back to the customs. Many people were waiting for what would have been a 1h wait, but he managed to pass us in front of the line so it took only 5 mins... which deserved him a nice tip ! One more thank you for him !

Can't think of anything else to write other that this was an unforgetable afternoon, so a very warm thank you to Tamuka Travel for all this !

To be reminded for those interested to visit the pool :
- be sure to take the correct multi-entry visa when you enter Zimbabwe for the first time, it saves time and money !
- even though the current is not strong, it's always better to be comfortable in the water

Actually experience of Devils Pool was just awesome! You should try it if you are visiting in dry season. But just NOT from this company.
My rating for this is ... you only have to pay this experience at US$75, NOT $160. I stayed at Sherwater Villege which was close to the city center of Victoria Falls, including the transfer, only cost you $80. This tour doesn't include transportation, nor park entrance fee. Wherever you are staying in Victoria Falls, take a taxi to the border and rest can be easy walk to the meeting point. There are many other offers around same price but others are included transportation, and speed boat experience.
Also I have a hotel staff to call Tamuka Travel during a bussiness hour, nobody answered a call. Tamuka Travel marking up 200%, I been in Hospitality industory for more than 30 years, working with so many different countries but I have never heard of this kind of scam.

And to Viator, I never thought you feature this company, your accountability went down for me. Hope you can make sure that whatever you dicided to feature on your website you are accountable and clairfy the details.

Hello, thank you for the time taken to post your review and we’re sorry you feel ripped off. Firstly the $75 covers access to the pool. As this is a natural pool that takes a very small amount of people you’ll most likely find that you cannot get a booking to this activity. We have guaranteed spots available that we’re able to sell that ensure you get to experience this magical activity. We feel that for these reasons we offer an excellent value package which the majority of our customers love, as seen by the reviews. May you indicate the full cover insurance on the vehicles and well experienced guides with detailed information of the activity to ensure their safety, no bridge fees to be charged to clients as it will be included. Failure to get to the activity while you are with our guide for the reason of visa or immigration delays you are guaranteed to get another slot or get 100% refund depending with what you chose which you can’t do when we don’t pick you there is no refund. Constant communication is done between the driver and the office to ensure smooth movement and conduction of activity as we take responsibility of the client from pick up point Kind regards Tamuka Travel

Having a wonderful lunch on an island in the middle of the Zambezi River before it rushes over the cliff at Victoria Falls? Sounds great -- and it is. The guides help you to the precipice of the Falls so you can peek over the side. It is scary but the sight is incredible. The lunch is gourmet -- and we got to visit with interesting people from around the world.

We did this on our last night in Victoria falls. We stopped in the dark for drinks gin and tonics whiskey what ever you wanted over looking lake with hippos and crocs. Then we stopped in middle of game reserve for an incredible dinner hot soup, then barbecue and fruit and drinks. The stars were magical. We saw giraffes lying down sleeping caught in our headlights had no idea they did this, heard predators on the prowl quite earey and scary. Very different so pleased we did it gives you a totally different aspect to safaris.
