In a nutshell : completely excellent !
More detailed version follows...
Before the Falls :
Day -1: a very kind message received to confirm the time of pickup at the hotel, nice thing !
Day : pickup arrived at exact time, can be noted as it wasn't always the case during the whole trip ! No problem to cross the bridge to Zambia, nobody on the waiting line at the customs.
At the Falls :
Everything was well organized, after a brief security check we took the boat to Livingstone Island, short but funny to see how the guys manage to drive around the rocks. After a small walk, we reached the cliff, put the swimsuits, and swimmed a bit to reach the pool. Impressive view from here, many pics were taken by guys from the crew, who were very friendly and assured a complete security at the same time. We stayed for about 30 mins in the pool, from what I had read before I thought it'd be shorter so staying this long was for sure a nice surprise ! And it was of course fun to say hello to people visiting the falls from the other side... just have to guess how many were thinking "these guys are crazy to swim in such a pool" !
My wife was finally too scared to swim and reach the pool, so she stayed at Livingstone island. She told me it was anyway a great experience for her, all passing members from the crew were very kind towards her, asking if she was ok, giving her some water, ... So she also sends a warm thank you, and promises she'll try again next time we're there !
After the pool, we were supposed to have a drink... but that turned out to be a complete meal with drink at will (only time I saw this during the trip in South Africa/Zimbabwe/Zambia, so it has to be noted)... There was so much to eat that we didn't eat anything in the evening once back in the hotel ! So this was great as well :)
After the Falls :
Our driver was waiting for us to get us back to the customs. Many people were waiting for what would have been a 1h wait, but he managed to pass us in front of the line so it took only 5 mins... which deserved him a nice tip ! One more thank you for him !
Can't think of anything else to write other that this was an unforgetable afternoon, so a very warm thank you to Tamuka Travel for all this !
To be reminded for those interested to visit the pool :
- be sure to take the correct multi-entry visa when you enter Zimbabwe for the first time, it saves time and money !
- even though the current is not strong, it's always better to be comfortable in the water
