Guiding in the park is very good, saw quite a lot of animals including lions and a glimpse of a leopard. But 7 hours of driving from Dar is dreadful - on top of that, long discussions about accommodation in the park. It is probably better to fly to Kilimanjaro Airport and go on safari from Arusha

Dear traveler, We understand that tourists always go around with different expectations so it happens that you sometimes find it not funny but others might find it worth it :) Iringa is a historical town and weather allows short walks and biking from January to December.

My girlfriend and I went on a 6 day safari with Bateleur covering Mikumi, Udzungwa and Ruhaha national park. Our guide, Emma, picked us up in Dar with a nice Jeep with an extendable rooftop. The trip was very well planned from Bateleur and Emma, such that we did not need to concern about something else then admiring the stunning wildlife and beautiful landscape. At every evening we got a short briefing about the next day, such that we always knew whats on the schedule. Emma was extremly punctual, very kind and an amazingly experienced guide. He kept the perfect balance of giving us a lot time and patience to observe (for instance, when a herd of buffalos approached the water hole) and driving us to the next place where we might spot more game. In the end we spotted countless giraffes, zebras, elefants, impalas, buffalos, hippos and even a couple of lions now and then. We had simple but comfortable accomodation in small cottages/bandas in both parks. Since we stayed in the park we had the chance to see wildlife even directly from our window. Between Udzungwa and Ruaha we had a nice stop in Iringa and stayed in Neema guesthouse, which is a great and inspiring place to be. Bateleur organized everything in an absolutely professional way and I would definitely recommend them for a safari.

Bateleur is a top notch Safari company. I had an amazing time with them. Great vehicles, great guides, and great service. My guide, Rajip (David), is a high energy and passionate wildlife guide. I loved touring Ruaha National Park with him and listening to his extensive knowledge of Tanzanian wildlife. 10/10 woudl recommend. When I come back to Tanzania I am calling Rajip immediately.
