We have planned this safari for more than 7 months in advance and the agency patron Rama was extremely helpful with everything, having resolved any issues that might have appeared through e-mails. We initially paid a small part of the total cost online and the rest with cash when we arrived, being absolutely no problems with any payment.
Our safari guide, also named Rama, has been extremely helpful for our entire stay both at the camp and during the safari, which were both beautiful. He showed us many harder to access places which were less frequently visited by other guides and we managed to see all the really impressive animals the safari had to offer (lions and elephants included), this truly being an amazing adventure for the entire family. During the entire safari he professionally answered all our questions about wild life and the park itself, including those about the currently out of the ordinary rainy season and many other details, all while keeping the stories easy to understand. We also learned a few words in Swahili as an added bonus, which made us all smile.
There were absolutely no issues during the trip and we’d return any time for another safari by using this agency.

We have been on Safari to Zambia, Botswana and Namibia however our favourite operator did not have options for Tanzania and Zanzibar but introduced us to Gecko Adventures who handled our tour flawlessly. We did a 6-day safari to Selous, Ruaha and Saadani parks and finished off with 4 days of relaxation in Zanzibar.
Rama is an amazing driver/guide with exceptional skills of spotting animals in the bush and kept us captivated with his detailed narration of the interesting sights we encountered and past guiding experiences.
Zanzibar- we spent the first day exploring past and present culture in Stone Town and Prison Island. We spent the next 3 days enjoying the pristine Matemwe beach.
We are very grateful to Gecko Adventures for putting together such a fabulous and unforgettable holiday filled with adventure and booked in amazing lodges for reasonable rates.

The package was awesome in terms of service and price. We had a time of our lives and made awesome memories on this vacation.
Rama was excellent all the way in terms of all the support we required ie. we had an awesome vacation.

Very professional from start till the end!
All was planned and structured as we wanted it. We were part of the process from the start and they were also able to adapt to our wishes along the way.
The safari driver was excellent with huge knowledge about the nature and animals and you could clearly feel his passion for the work he is doing and the respect towards the animals and nature.
This was not my first time on safari, but definitely one of the best ones.
I will strongly Recommend Gecko Adventure for all your Tanzanian adventures, including Zanzibar.

We planned and booked the most amazing 6 night trip with Gecko Adventure Tanzania. Rama was fantastic in the planning stage and (another) Rama was our excellent driver and guide. We were picked up by Rama in Dar and driven to Selous in the best safari 4wd which had huge windows and the roof popped up. We loved standing up as we went around Selous (Trust me you don't want to be in the small open sided jeeps - we could go places they couldn't in the beast of a vehicle we had). It also had power and a fridge so we could charge phones/cameras and had cold water at all times. Rama made our trip incredible. He was very knowledgeable on where the animals were and how to track them - we saw all the animals we wanted to and more. He was very friendly and went out of his way to make sure we were happy. I had planned a birthday lunch for my partner, and Rama made sure it went without a hitch, and then my partner actually proposed - so it was an unforgettable trip all around. The whole experience from pick up at the airport to being dropped off was pretty much perfect all thanks to the planning and expertise of both the Ramas. Would definitely recommend.

Gecko-aventure canThe Gecko Adventure agency is able to concoct a tailor-made trip for you, perfectly organized and without a hitch.
We had the leisure, with a french family of 8 persons, to do a 3-day safari in Selous (now Nyerere National Park) then to stay 6 days in Zanzibar.
With several hotels, numerous transfers, including by plane, everything went perfectly. We had booked this trip just before the Covid 2 years ago, and the agency maintained the deposit we had paid at the time.
This agency is extremely responsive and provides immediate answers to all questions, much better than here in France. The guides are knowledgeable and helpful, with wonderful experiences. I highly recommend.

Gecko Adventures has enriched us with an unforgettable vacation. It started with the fact that we could tell by mail on very short notice what we would like to see in a certain time and a limited budget and we were proposed a customized itinerary with suitable accommodations. We traveled a total of about two weeks from Dar Es Salaam to Udzungwa Mountains, Mikumi, Morogoro, Selous and Kilwa. Our driver Otto was very friendly and with a lot of knowledge about the area, culture, flora and fauna he was able to answer any question satisfactorily at any time. His connection with nature was always clear - in the interest of as well as in the handling of the environment. For example, we really enjoyed the fact that during the safari he carefully drove up to the animals and didn't startle them as some others did. The accommodations, destinations and activities that Gecko Adventures suggested to us were well suited to our ideas and we saw an incredible amount of wildlife and landscapes in a short period of time. Overall, we therefore always felt comfortable and can highly recommend Gecko Adventures.

We began our trip in Dar es Salaam and were on our own for a couple of days until our tour started. We found the city dangerous, dirty, and with no significant sights to see. Upon arrival at Kigoma, we were taken to a very unsanitary restaurant (part of our package, which we visited again upon our return from Gombe.) After this, our trip improved significantly as we traveled by boat 2 hours to Gombe. Hussein, our guide at Gombe, was wonderful: very professional, courteous and considerate to our needs. We saw many chimps and although no hot water, enjoyed the tent facility. The food and service were very disappointing, but we tried to focus on the real reason we were visiting, which was for the wildlife. The domestic flights were poorly planned, for we wasted an entire day waiting in 2 airports to get to Kilimanjaro after finishing Gombe and back in Kigoma. (They are only a couple hours apart from each other!). We arrived at 3am, only to have to awaken at 6am to begin our trek to the Serengeti. Our guides Christian and Emmanuel were exceptional. They were very knowledgeable, polite, professional and fun. We saw Oldupai Gorge and the Ngorongoro. Crater as well. Our time in Zanzibar was also enjoyable, although we had to hire a guide since it was not included in our package. Shaaban was also a very professional, polite and wonderful guide. We felt safe and comfortable with him as he organized a snorkeling trip, tour of Stone Town and a visit to a spice farm. Gecko did a good job overall, but there is definite need for better communication and organization in regards to custom tours.

We did a 5 nights budget tour from DAR to Selous, Uluguru mountains, Morogoro, Udzungwa mountains, isimila and iringa. All was great organised and the budget accommodation were more midrange, so very good. Rama our guide was very nice and we saw alot. So thank you very much for the great trip!

We had planned our 2 nights 3 days trip to Ngorongoro crater , Lake Manyara & Tarangire National park, with Gecko Adventures Safari it was a wonderful memorable trip all thanks to Mr Rama who helped us in booking & the well experienced tour guide Mr Emmanuel.

If we want to go to safari for just 1 or 2 night from zanzibar , is it possible and how much will it cost ?

Hi, it's possible to go to safari for just 1 or 2 nights from Zanzibar. The 2 days/1night Selous US$ 695 per person and 3days/2 night Selous US$ 995 per person - include accommodation, meals, park fees, game drives, boat safari, flights to/from Zanzibar and transfers to/from Selous airstrip.
