We were transported in the early hours of the morning to our boat ride and because it was a shared boat it worked out quite reasonable compared to others tours. We saw plenty of dolphins but they swim very fast away so you've got to be quick. Our boat operator was very patient and helpful. Our transport guy Amaana arranged the tour and got it at a good price. His number +255625463790 if you visiting Zanzibar please wats app him as he very helpful.

What an exhilarating experience we had. We were in luck and saw those magnificent dolphins in beautiful turquoise waters with plenty of great picturesque fish 🐠 . It's an experience that will remain with us for a long time. Especially since it was my first...

We took the trip out Mnemba hoping to swim with the dolphins and have some excellent snorkeling. Though the overall experience was very good, neither of the two experiences reached expectations. Let me couch my comments with the fact that we have snorkeled in Hawaii, The Great Barrier Reef and Bali, so our expectations are probably a little higher than most. If you have never snorkeled, it would be a very good intro. There are some nice corals and a number of colorful fish, but nothing too exciting. The area inside the reef on the east side (out of bounds) would have been much better I think. The swim with the dolphins must be looked at as a 'possible', as the dolphins are wild and swim where they want, which our day was away from the mad rush of people jumping in the water to see them. The beautiful sand bar stretching north of the island was excellent for just jumping in and walking in the beautiful sand in pristine water.
The trip back was an adventure, as as the tide gets lower, the clearance is only inches as you weave among the rocks and lumps under the surface. Our driver did a great job 'surfing' through the narrow break in the reef when heading back.

I would strongly encourage people NOT to go here! This is only a place for the typical uneducated, naricisstic selfie-taking tourist with complete disregard for the beautiful tortoises that are holed up, helpless, and confined to a small area. These self serving idiot tourists are PETTING them, stroking their necks, and bumping into them all over the place. I felt so sorry for these poor things corralled into this inadequate space where it seems tourists are encouraged to treat these majestic creatures that survived the dinosaur age with complete disrespect, as nobody there is trying to control the people crowding around them and invading their personal space. I was appalled!! Disgusted!! This is NOT a sanctuary people, it is a holy hell for these creatures. AND in addition…. the steady stream of boats that pull up to the beaches… get this… in low tide are pulling up in areas where the tourists are walking across a coral reef in low tide to get on and off the boats. DO NOT spend your money here… please. There is nothing here to buy, no souvenirs. It is a tiny albeit beautiful island, but there are other little islands you can go to for beauty. Please leave these poor tortoises alone and do your part to save the coral reef!

You don't feel welcome here. We are equipped with fins, diving goggles and life jacket and put on a small boat. The captain, a barefooted local, is milling over the high waves into the sea, past fishing boats with their trawls. After about an hour he begins to telephone, discarding his hands. Apparently the dolphins are not here today. He turns around. We meet two other boats that are also roaring back. There, in the distance, we see about thirty identical boats together. There are apparently also the dolphins and we go to this gathering. And indeed: There are probably five dolphins that come to the surface every now and then to breathe. Whenever that's the case, all thirty captains let their engines howl and offer themselves a race to see who's first with the dolphins. Some tourists jump into the water and want to watch the dolphins. The boats around them almost beat up and run over them. It is a terrible behavior of these captains. The dolphins are disturbed and cannot behave naturally. It is also very dangerous for the tourists. Again and again the captains scream at each other, because one cuts off the other's way and literally drives over the dolphins and bathing tourists. We tell our captain to go ashore. He is also a bit shocked. Apparently he wanted to show us the dolphins far out in the sea where we would have left them alone. But that didn't cut it and that's why he led us to this awful place. Apparently because he thought we would otherwise be completely disappointed - yes we are, anyway.

We had read about the restaurant being a must do as it is out at sea but we were very disappointed. It’s a tiny restaurant built on a small rock ‘island’ , at low tide you can walk to it but other wise you take a small boat. We paid USD 50 per person for average food. You can give it a miss.

Very nice restaurant on the ocean. The idea is crazy and worth the view. The meals were very very good and refined. The outside terrasse is amazing to drink a cocktail after lunch. Just be prepared for the wind and the sand everywhere:) the only problem is booking when it is high season. We got lucky but it seems it could be very complicated sometimes.

0/10 would not book or recommend.

After being picked up from our hotel by the driver who was supposed to drive us to the boat, we were very concerned as he pulled over multiple times and made side trips that involved stopping the car, other people coming up to the car, him passing them mysterious baggies and receiving cash in return. Upon arriving at the location where we were supposed to launch, we were already deeply uncomfortable. To make matters worse the boat that was supposed to take us over was in poor condition and the drinking water we were supposed to use was bug infested.

At this point everything so far had been so bad that were not comfortable getting on the boat and decided to cancel the trip and asked our driver to take us back to our hotel. Importunely the "excitement" didn't there. On the drive home our driver got in a car accident then got in a physical fight with three men from the other vehicle. This fight carried over into our vehicle as we were in the back seat. The driver appeared to have stolen the keys to the vehicle that hit us. It seems likely that the "accident" was intentional.

Overall, this booking was a nightmare and a traumatizing experience and not at all what we paid for. I would not recommend this to anyone.

A long and rather tiring trip by boat. It was very windy and there were not a lot of marine life to see, especially compared to the Maldives. The seafood picnic was nice, though. Overall, not to be advised by families with children or seniors,
