I booked a tour through Taoumi Ahmed’s website. Good correspondence with him up to when we arrived in Spain. He looked after everything from booking our return ferry tickets, having our guide Rachid meet us at the terminal in Tangier, personalizing our tour for us and then escorting us back to the ferry at the end of the day. Rachid was a wonderful guide and told us so much about the history of Tangier and Morocco. We drove to many beautiful, scenic sites and were taken on a meandering maze through the Kasbah and Medina. I wouldn’t want to try to find my way through myself! This was definitely good value for the money and I would highly recommend Taoumi Tours.

The Highlights of Tangier Tour was an exceptional experience. Ahmed, the owner of the tour company, was an excellent communicator when trying to plan this trip. I emailed him several times back and forth to finalize my itinerary. I had to change my tour time last minute, and Ahmed was flexible and accommodated my new time. Our tour guide, Rachid, was extremely knowledgeable in history and culture making good use of every minute. His sense of humor, interesting stories and kindness were greatly appreciated. We were warmly greeted at the port and escorted in a very clean Mercedes van. Our tour was extensive and included the new city as well as the Medina and Kasbah. Rachid seemed to know everyone which allowed us to have many unique experiences such as a visit to a bakery where the locals take their bread to be baked; a visit to the Hercules caves where we were escorted by a local guide; a camel ride on the beach; lunch in an authentic Moroccan restaurant where only locals eat; a tour of the Grand Hotel where Henri Matisse stayed; a visit to a local musician playing the lute; and tea and local pastries. Because we were staying the night, Rachid gave us extra time. He actually walked us to our hotel in the evening after a full day of exploring. The next morning, he was kind enough to meet us back at the hotel and drive us to the ferry. I cannot say enough of how professional, courteous, thoughtful and interesting this tour was. I highly recommend Taoumi tours and Rachid as the tour guide!

We toured Tangier and Asilah with Rachid and a driver. We were met at the ferry from Tarifa, and were dropped there at the end.
WOW. One of the most amazing tours I have ever done. Complete history of the area, and choices of where to go. We highly recommend this tour. You will not be disappointed.

We had the pleasure of taking the most FABULOUS PRIVATE tour of Tangier with Taoumi Tours.
Mr. Ahmed the owner has been doing tours for over 30 years. He was a past President of the Tangier Tour Association. He has led tours for all the most prominent tour companies.( Such as American Express Travel, Maupintour etc.)- The reason he doesn't have more reviews is tour companies don't write reviews. But they only use the most RESPECTED tour operators in each country. He has a very detailed website- that gives prices and descriptions of all his tours.
He responds very quickly to emails. His tours are very affordable compared to other tour companies that are rated higher on TripAdvisor. All tours in Tangier you basically go to the same places. So there is no need to pay more for your tours.
Mr. Ahmed was booked the day we wanted so we were given one of his guides in his company - Mr. Abdelaziz. He was such a wonderful, intelligent, professional. He has been giving tours for 35 years. He had a great passion for Tangier! His explanations of the city and sites was EXCELLENT! We wanted to go to some special places and that was not a problem. He took us to the Berber Market- which was very special to see. My husband wanted to go see the famous bar where Mick Jagger frequented when in Tangier. Nothing was too much to ask- he always let us decide what we wanted to do. We wanted to go to a special restaurant I found on TripAdvisor not a touristy restaurant . No problem! There was no high pressure carpet stores- which we were not interested in doing. We wanted to learn about the culture and daily life of the Tangier people- and he gave us detailed explanations of everything! Our tour lasted 7 hours and it was ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS of our trip!
He is very respected in the community and was greeted by many people throughout the tour.
All his friends we met- said " HE IS THE BEST GUIDE"! We felt so luckly to have had him for our guide.
If you are looking for THE BEST PROFESSIONAL TOUR COMPANY that is used by the most prominent tour operators- then Tauomi Tours is for you! Mr. Ahmed runs the most RESPECTED tour company in Tangier.
No other tour company in Tangier compares to their professionalism!

My wife and I were traveling in Spain last summer, and had planned to take the ferry across from Tarifa to Tangier. We were excited to see this city rich in culture and history, and decided to find a private guide to show us around. What really drew me to Ahmed was that, in review after review, people commented that Ahmed did not herd them to merchants (where they of course get a piece of the action) but that he genuinely loves his city and his country, and focuses instead on history, landmarks, and other points of interest.

Well, my sister-in-law decided to make an unscheduled stop at the beach when we got to Tangier (she lives in Denver; her eyes roll up into her head when she gets near a real beach) and we ended up missing our ferry, putting us an hour behind. We tried calling Ahmed, but the cell phones my brother and sister-in-law had brought along apparently could not call numbers in Morocco. We really didn't expect to find Ahmed when we got there. Boy, were we wrong. As we got off the ferry, and the other guides jostled for business, we simply told one of them we were looking for Ahmed. He said, "oh, he is a friend of mine, I will call him for you." Turns out Ahmed had suspected we were delayed, and was waiting for us all along in the terminal building. As we found out, everyone in Tangier knows Ahmed!

With only about 5 hours to see the city, Ahmed loaded us into an air conditioned van with driver, and proceeded to take us on a fascinating, information-packed driving tour of the city. He patiently answered our many questions, and we managed to see the major sights, and then embarked on a walking tour through the Medina and Kasbah.

When we told Ahmed we would love to sample Moroccan cuisine before we headed back to Spain that night, he mentioned that the restaurants were closed, but he would see what he could do. He started calling friends, and before you know it, he actually got a restaurant to open for us! It was the like "The Amazing Race" - we were the only people there. What he promised would be "a few tastes" (we were expecting appetizers) for no more than ten Euros per person, ended up being a sumptuous five-course meal - one of the best we have ever had in our lives.

If you go to Tangier - you owe it to yourself to meet Ahmed. You will have an experience you will never forget. We spent almost 4 weeks traveling through Europe, and the four of us agreed that our half day in Tangier was the absolute highlight of the trip.

My brother and I were in Tangier for one day only, and wanted to make the most of it. Based on advice from the Rick Steve's book, I contacted Ahmed. We were looking for two things: a tour of the city, and help booking train tickets on an overnight sleeper train to Marrakech that night. After many email exchanges with Ahmed, he had handed us off to a guide he works with, Aziz, and told us that tickets are available and we would be taken to the train station as soon as we got to Tangier.

When we arrived, Ahmed was waiting for us. His knowledge of the city and Moroccan history was extensive, but you could tell he has recited the same history day after day, and he was hard to hear and understand at times as sprinted through it. When we went to the train station, there were no tickets available for the train we were expecting to take. That was disappointing, but Aziz and Ahmed appeared to be trying to take care of it. I wanted to fly out that night, but they suggested the day train the next day, and they would arrange a hotel for the night. We agreed.

The tour that followed was good. Aziz was obviously well known in the city and greeted by many of the people that passed by. We had a great lunch at The Kasbah for 15 Euro's a person, which is probably more than should be paid, but I was happy with it.

The most disappointing part of the trip was when we reached the hotel that Ahmed had arranged for us. It was the Chellah. We were told it was a nice but inexpensive hotel. They had arranged discounted price for us, but we had to pay the guides directly. That should have been an obvious enough sign of a scam, but at 60 Euros it still seemed plausible. It wasn't until we got to the room we were suspicious. It was clear that it wasn't what we were expecting. When I looked up the Chellah online, rooms were going for 30 Euros.

What I regret most is trusting Ahmed and Aziz, getting scammed out of that 30 Euros, and tipping Aziz before going up to the room and realizing we had been scammed.

Other of the hotel scam and disappointing assistance with the train ticket, the tour was actually good, but I can't recommend either based on the whole experience.

I couldn't get a train tickets in advance because i had no guaranty from Johnatan. If he doesn't show up what am going to do with the tickets ? Is there a 3 stars hotels in the center of town that charges 15 euros with breakfast included ? That is not comprehensible. Am i going to ruin my reputation for 15 euros ? No This was a review of someone that didn't like it. I understand because we work with public and it is impossible to satisfy everyone. We are doing our best.

I am a little late in writing my review but we were a group of 8, British, American and Australians who arrived in Tangiers for the day on Oceania Cruises. I contacted Taoumi on email sometime before the cruise and he was most helpful in his advice as to the best tour for us. He was very relaxed about taking my reservation and wanted no payment upfront. This really impressed us all and I didn't contact him for a few weeks before our cruise date. I was a little nervous as to whether Taoumi would have remembered our arrangement, but sure enough there he was waiting for us when the ship first docked.
Taoumi is a very educated guide and also very honourable in every way. He went to great lenghts to please us checking all the time if there was anything special we had in mind that we wanted to see. Rather than our guide wanting to end his day, it was we the tourists who had to say that we needed a rest. I do believe Taoumi would have gone on for a couple more hours.
He is a very worldly guide with knowledge about the history of his country, also the politics and religions and how they pertain to other countries. We felt totally safe and secure while in Taoumi's care and he also made sure that we were not bothered by the many hawkers that tried to interrupt our tour.
I would definitely recommend Ahmed Taoumi to anyone looking for a tour of Tangiers. We saw so much during our time with him.
Thank you Taoumi .

“ Tangier - A city of Wonders through the eyes of Ahmed”

Our family had visited the Costa Del Sol several times during the last few years. Each time, we had thought about taking the ferry to Morocco – to the city of Tangier. We had read both positive and negative reviews on many web sites. With that in mind, we searched for a guide before we left home who would do what we wanted rather than what he thought we would like to do. It was our fortune to come across Ahmed Taoumi (a private tour escort), on the Internet. We started communicating with him about 2 weeks before our departure, during which time we agreed on an itinerary price. He assured us that everything we wanted to do, he would accommodate us. He told us what ferry to take from Tarifa and that he would meet us at the port. He indicated that we should clear customs & immigration on the boat to help speed our entry into Morocco. We began our journey on June 30, hoping that all things would come about as planned. We arrived at the port and were approached by many locals telling us that they would provide us with tours. In the back stood a mature suited individual holding up a sign with our name. Ahmed greeted us with much excitement. He took us to his private van & driver where our journey began. For 6 hours this knowledgeable individual showed us & discussed with us the various cultures of Tangier and its people; from the various parties that controlled the country over different period of time to the vast population groups that lived in and around the city. We walked through many sites & drove to others. As the day came to an end, Ahmed brought us back to the Port and ensured we got aboard our ferry back to Spain. The day with Ahmed was exceptional.

We decided to hire a guide for our one day in Tangier to maximize the experience and to ensure that we remained safe. Touring Tangier seemed a little more exotic than Italy or Spain, where we happily rent a car and go it alone.
After reading several of the reviews on Trip Advisor, we settled on Taoumi and one other private tour. After trading e-mails, we decided on Taoumi and it was the best decision we could have made. He arranged for our discounted ferry from Tarifa, while giving us explicit instructions on what to do on the journey. When we arrived in Tarifa, we gave them our confirmation number and followed his instructions on the ferry. When we arrived in Tangier, Taoumi was there to greet us as we disembarked.
We were driven by a gentleman named Mustafa in a Mercedes with Taoumi giving full attention to the tour. First we went around and saw many beautiful estates and listened to Taoumi's history of Tangier and Morocco. We rode the camels (it was really fun and very inexpensive), we to Hercules Grotto, the Medina and the Casbah. Every stop was enriched because of Taoumi's dialogue and he used our camera to take photos of the two of us during every great opportunity. We had a wonderful lunch, toured the market and got a little shopping in during the afternoon, before we arrived at the Hotel Continental, close to the ferry port.
In a matter of one day, we saw so much of Tangier, but more importantly, we learned so much of the history from Taoumi. He is a journalist with an encyclopedia of information about the area and he is passionate about his city and country. We thoroughly enjoyed our day together and we were very pleased that Taoumi stayed with us through the boarding process. All in all, the tour was extremely well done, relatively inexpensive and we felt completely safe and were never bothered by anyone. We highly recommend hiring a guide for Tangier and specifically Taoumi, who was just tremendous.

Ahmed, or Taoumi as he likes to be called, was a very professional and knowledgeable guide. His love of Morocco and Tangier is evident, and for all his years as a guide, 30 he said, he does not seemed to have lost his love of what he does. He delivered all he promised by email and more. We were met at the port as planned, he took us to our hotel to check in, and for a tour around Tangier, and along the Atlantic to see the caves, ride camels and to the town of Assilah, timing it perfectly to be at the look out point in Assilah for sunset, without even mentioning that to us. As our boys were hungry there, he sat us down for a drink in a cafe, and promtly returned with some homemade sandwiches from another friend/shop nearby. He deliverd us back to our hotel in the Medina, all with a brand new comfortable van and driver, and took care of any details/questions with the hotel before departing. He met us at breakfast the next morning, as cheerful as always, helped us check out and fill in paperwork to ext on the ferry, and then took us on a walking tour of the Kasbah, marketplace, some stores we requested, etc. He was never pushy and always allowed us to chose our destinations and preferences. I would highly recommend him to anyone. I don't usually write reviews, but he deserves it, he is a true pro.
