Archeological site with a view but also with litter amd stench
Aug 2019 • Couples
This site is part of Moroccans history. When you see the place, you’d not think so.
One can walk and sit on the tombs... they’re full of litter and the smell is awful.
Strangely enough there is a nice lawn next to it that is maintained by the city...

A Look-out Point with Panoramic Views of Tangier and the Strait of Gibraltar
Apr 2019 • Friends
This is a look-out point that is seemingly popular with locals who would picnic around here. On a fine weather, one could see Spain across the Strait of Gibraltar and views of Tangier. The site also has a very archaeological points of interest. If you like something more local and to hang out or chill while at the same time just to chat and take in the view like what the locals, this is a nice spot.

It will not have the comfort of a conventional park bench, a cafe with cappuccino but that's also the beauty of this spot. You might have some peddlers selling snacks like nuts if you want something to munch on.

Take note that it is located on the edge of a steep cliff without barriers so this is not recommended for everyone.

Not Worth the Trek
May 2019
I felt sad about this site. The Phoenician tombs carved out of rock were full of litter. The surroundings smelled like open sewers. The best thing about the site was the view of the sea and the breeze, which mitigated the stench.
To make it worthwhile, this site needs maintenance and good signage.

Phoenician Tombs - Worth the view
Mar 2019 • Friends
Place is probably more interesting for historians and archaeologists, but anyway, if you walk around or going to Hafa cafe which is nearby, you can stop here for a wonderful view of the Strait of Gibraltar and Tangier coast. Be careful not to fall into the holes/tombs, in winter rainy season they are filled with water, and also be careful of very strong wind!

Exploring the reaches of Tangier
Feb 2019 • Solo
My wander around Tangier found me stumbling across this cliff top view with a serious number of grave holes dug in to it.

It’s a great view out to sea and back the port - the graves make for an eerie but interesting feel in the immediate area.

Nice view
Feb 2018 • Solo
I went to this place in the Sunday. Is not far from the kashba but is far from the touristic guides area. The place is perfect in terms of the Landscape. The view of the port and to the rest of the Medina is amazing. The place have a lot of garbage, even inside the thombs. The jonic columns placed on the entrance of the site dont make any sense.

Best coastal view
Dec 2017 • Couples
Interesting tomb structures, with holes carved into rock and aligned in rows. We only passed as we were trying to find Café Hafa - as it turns out we weren't too impressed with the view from the café so decided to go back to the tombs. It was a nice place to sit and rest and there were quite a few locals hanging out there. Good view across the Straits, and also of the Kasbah. Probably one of the best coastal views of the trip. I am glad we found it :)

Great view to Spain
Dec 2017 • Solo
This place offers a great view over the Strait of Gibraltar to the mountains of Southern Spain. That is why this place is a must visit when the weather is good.
The graveyard itself is sort of abandoned: no signs, no explanations and people, locals and tourists, don’t care that it’s a graveyard.

Romantic & photogenic
Oct 2017 • Couples
We went for a walk on Corniche de Tanger in the late afternoon, and walked all the way up to Route de la Plage Mercala because we thought it's gonna be connected way to reach Tumbas Fenicias. But it wasn't. So we asked some locals on the Route de la Plage Mercala the way to climb up. They showed us some small "stairs" which were made in the stone which goes uphill. Was were advantageous to climb up in sandals, but when we reached the top point, the result was definitely amazing. You can follow our (bad) example, or simply go from Medina-Kasbah directly to there, but visit it anyhow.
