Our Zagora desert tour was a wonderful experience. Our driver for the two days was Abdou. He was a gentle and kind man. During the drive, he took all the opportunities for us to stop and take photos of the magnificent region. He is passionate about his Berber culture and happy to share stories. Before Zagora, we stopped at Ait Ben Haddou. Our guide there was Hassan, he took us around the heritage listed Berber village and invited us to have lunch with his family home with Abdou aswell. After lunch we were amazed by a local artist Mustafa. He creates art using Berber materials, tea, saffron and orange juice (yes, orange juice) and brings the art to life using fire/heat. Then we continued to Zagora. We were very unfortunate with the weather as the clouds came in, but the rain was much needed for the area. Thereafter we met our camel leader Mohammed, leading us into the Zagora desert camps. The desert was very rocky and began along the road, however the sand dunes began to appear at the base of the mountains closer to camp. This was a spectacular sight! The camp caretakers were all wonderful. They were entertaining and friendly. All our meals were lovely. The camp is well looked after and had all adequate facilities (hot water included). We woke up with the hope of a sunrise, but alas, the clouds stayed behind. On our way back to Marrakech, Abdou took us to Ouarzazate before driving through the amazing snow capped Atlas Mountains and safely back to Marrakech. On top of all of this, we had this whole experience on our own. The first overseas tourists to camp in the Zagora! We're grateful to have the private tour, but would love to come back when the world opens again and we can share it together. Thank you to Ando Travel! YALLAH! (Prepare yourself for long drives and winding mountain roads, and if you can... make sure mother nature delivers with her blue skies 😊)

Our tour guide's name was Said and he was truly the best guide we could've asked for. He was friendly, helpful, knowledgable, and you could tell he really loved his job. He even went out of his way to get me a water and a soda after I got sick at one of our rest stops. The excursion itself was an incredible experience (the desert camp was much much nicer than expected!!). Would recommend this to anyone, and you're especially bound to have a great time if you're lucky enough to have Said as your guide. (P.S. If you get motion sick easily - I BEG of you, take some dramamine. I took some and still ended up getting sick lol).

First let me start by saying thank you to Ando Travel and our tour guide Abdou for not canceling our tour amid the shut down of Morocco due to the Coronavirus. This was a trip of a lifetime for my wife and I and we would have been devastated even more if this was canceled. Abdou speaks amazing English & is the kindest tour guide ever. Our schedule ran perfect and he attended to our every need. Even amidst all flights being canceled out of the country, Abdou went above and beyond, helping our Russian friends on the tour get back to Marrakech right away to be ready for a repatriation flight. They could not have handled all of that chaos without his help. My wife and I were the only two left and we were able to still continue on the tour with Abdou. The first day was incredible with an amazing tour of the UNESCO world heritage site, Ksar Ait Ben Haddou. Our local guide here, Hassan lives in the village and we met his family and animals, had tea, and had a very informative and incredible tour. We bought two small rugs from the family his sister made. There was no mention of buying rugs, we asked if we could because we wanted rugs and their prices were so much cheaper than anywhere else we found in Morocco. It was a perfect day. We continued on with Abdou to movie set sites, like Game of Thrones and got to our beautiful hotel in time to swim and rest for a little bit before another amazing meal! Abdou went out of his way to make sure we had plenty of food and toilet breaks, as both had become very difficult when the Moroccan government shut down all restaurants and stores. Our bellies were kept very full this entire tour thanks to Abdou. We had two other local guides, Abraham and Mohammad who were so nice, along with many other people making this tour absolute perfection! If you only do one thing in Morocco, take this tour...ride camels at sunset, sleep in the desert, eat amazing food, teach and learn new card games, learn to play the drums and drink ALL the Moroccan tea! On this tour you are catered to non stop and treated like family! Amidst all the Coronavirus chaos, everyone in this country and on this tour cared for us so much, when our own government was telling us not to bother them. Abdou even offered for us to come stay with him and his family in the mountains and so did our tour operator and Desert hotel owner. It is actually a blessing in disguise having to stay longer in Morocco. We love it here and we will be bringing our kids back someday soon and take this tour again, so they can meet everyone. Every minute of this tour was incredible and this is during a Coronavirus pandemic, so I can only imagine what it would be like during the good times. We are leaving Morocco (sometime) with new friends, amazing stories and incredible memories...thanks to Abdou and Ando Travel for everything!

We were picked up by our driver Abdou, a very kind and humble man. He drove safely, but also managed to get everywhere in time. He took enough breaks and announced the schedule of the day clearly. When we arrived at the places for the visits, guides were waiting for us, which made everything go smoothly. Lunches on the way are arranged but you are free to do whatever you want to. We visited Ben Ait Haddou with a personal tour, drove through the beautiful and very varied sceneries of the atlas mountains and had a nice camelride into a bit of desert. It was a lot of fun. For the return, Abdou made sure everyone arrived safely at their riads by keeping in touch with us.
