We absolutely loved this tour. Marc and Veronique are such nice people and make the experience enjoyable and fun. A few days before the booking the forecast was for rain so we contacted them and moved it a couple days forward without any issues. We were so glad we did this as on the day of the original booking the heavens opened all day. The day we rescheduled however was blue skies and warm.
Our group ended up splitting in 2 with 2 of us with digital SLR's and the rest with iphones. If you are using a SLR then I think you will find it more enjoyable and worthwhile if you already understand how to shoot in manual setting. The day is more about composition, shadows, capturing the scene and thinking about what you want to say in your photo. If you are also trying to work out how to adjust the aperture and shutter speeds then it might get a little overwhelming. However you do get loads of time in each setting and they will spend time teaching you this if needed.
In my younger days I did photography at school and used to develop my own film but with digital cameras for many years I became lazy just using auto. Over the last 5 years my wife and I have done a few courses in London on using manual settings and outdoor workshops in the day and night getting back to using manual. However now we wanted to learn more about composition. This course was perfect. Yes it was a little pricey but the skills we learned will last a lifetime and 100% will alter how I photograph in the future.
The first part of the day you walk around shooting in the shadows, round corners, seeing the effect of the moving sun, reflections and how to picture people without them/you getting upset / feeling uncomfortable. There is time for still photos and movement, portrait and scenes.
However I am so glad we decided to do the full day. After a delicious lunch we proceeded to go to a bakery and a tanning / leather workshop. These are 2 places there is no way any tourist would be able to go and spend time. We spent ages in these 2 places taking so many photos from different angles and styles and honing the skills learnt early in the day. This was a highlight from our week in Marrakesh.
It was also lovely grabbing drink after and talking to them about their move to Morocco and how their lives are now.
Thank you for such an amazing day.

I had an amazing day with the sweet Beligium couple Marc and Veronique
They took me beyond the turist traps and showed me a different and unique part of Marrakech that I wouldn't have discovered by myself.
Veronique is amazing at seeing the small details and framing the photo. She will point at objects and different angles you wouldn't have seen yourself and show you the small heart drawn on the wall by a kid in Marrakech.
Marc will share his profound knowledge of photography with you and he has a talent for seeing the perfect picture in a mirror at the barbershop or in the puddle of water reflecting a bike.
If you in any way are interested in photography, do yourself the favor of joining them on their tour around the Medina. It was by far the best day I spent in Marrakech!

If you would like to discover and explore the real Marrakech, then you must take the time to contact the Belgian couple Véronique and Marc, who decided to leave Europe and move to Marrakech.
These 2 wonderful people are passionate about photography and accompany you while walking in the ancient alleyways of Marrakech. On Fridays f.e. they accompany tourists to the market of Tamesloht.
You can decide to do a half day or a full day workshop, but we definitely recommend spending a full day to get an unforgettable experience.
Enjoy!

I booked a walking photography tour with Marc and Veronique as a surprise for my girlfriends birthday. It was probably the highlight of our whole trip to Marrakech!
The meeting point was easy to find and Marc arrived a few minutes after us. After being taken to a Riad for mint tea and a quick talk about the days itinerary, we headed into the depths of the Medina. The areas we visited were very residential and we barely saw another tourist for the duration of the tour. The focus (no pun intended) was on seeing things differently and finding the photographic opportunities, but any technical questions were answered in easy to understand terms and with practical directions.
We came back with some fantastic photos that really feel like we've captured Marrakech, rather than generic tourist photos of the square and Koutoubia mosque. It's also given us some fantastic knowledge going forward so we hope to get equally great shots on our next trip.
Marc and Veronique were both great and I really can't recommend them highly enough. If you've an interest in photography, want to get off the beaten track a little and grab some fantastic photos from what has to be one of the most photogenic places in the world - this is the trip you're after.

Thaank you for your positive feedback, always glad to read good reviews from our customers. And maybe even more important: we are happy to read our customers really learned something, and not only for use on that one single workshop day. This stuff will (hopefully) last longer than only for the time being at Marrakech. Try it out anywhere in the world!
thanks again

If you would like to go beyond the touristic snapshots, than you must participate to one of the workshops that Véronique and Marc organize. This lovely Belgian couple accompanied me and my mother during 2 fascinating escapes: the first one into the ancient world of the medina of Marrakech, the second one during the market of the authentic town of Tamesloht.
A must-do when you are in Morocco!

I strongly recommend this fun filled trip inspired tuition which has enabled us to get more from our equipment, and more fun from our holiday. They take all the fear away of taking photos of reluctant residents, some great tips and their enthusiasm is inspiring.
My photos look great . Thank you guys! From Jan and Peter.

We have both been photographing for some time now. We know all the basic technical stuff but we were still getting frustrated with our holiday photos - they were lacking the special something. Now that we have taken this workshop, I am sure that our photo albums will be filled with much more interesting photos.
Marc and Veronique are lovely people who have lots of experience. We went to some quieter streets of the Medina and were given lots of helpful tips and advice. Marc and Veronique also know so many locals so we were able to take pictures of scenes that we would otherwise never have been able to.
It was a super interesting morning and we have learned so much. Thank you!
We definitely recommend this workshop to anyone wanting to improve their photography skills - especially when it comes to finding the right frame and special subjects. It is great value for money (just think about what you would pay for a 1:1 workshop in Europe :) and you will get amazing photos out of it.

Hello Lisa and Ben,
great to read your review, it exactly tells what we are aiming for.
By now, you understand our way of seeing and observing and how to translate this into the picture you had in mind.
Use these skills and you will notice: the longer you are seeing the better the translation gets.
Enjoy your stay and your future travels!

Was lucky to have spent a full day photographing the Marrakech Medina with Marc, and got so many shots I just wouldn't have been able to get without Marc's relationships with the local people as well as his expert guidance on how to frame the shots differently.

Marc was an excellent instructor. He was very calm and patient, and encouraged us to see things differently. I so enjoyed the slow walk around the market.
Mostly, though, I appreciated meeting his local friends. We were able to talk portraits of the most beautiful faces, and see the artisans and vegetable sellers in action. We visited a lovely home and were welcomed by its owner with great hospitality.
This tour was very special. Marc is a rare teacher, and a rare master of local connections.
If you have the time, do spend a morning with Marc. You really will see a little differently!

It has been written by many and I am no exception, if you are at all interested in improving your skills with your camera, do not hesitate to take this workshop.
Marc and Veronique each bring their own gifts to this experience. Marc is an excellent teacher, he explained concepts in a way that made it easy to understand. Veronique shared her skills as a photographer, lending her eye, allowing others to see what is possible.
I can’t thank you both enough. I spend the rest of the day playing and can already see improvement in my pictures.
I also wanted to thank you for sharing with me a respectful way to photograph. I am often embarrassed watching tourists snap photos.

I travel with a point and shoot pocket camera and a Canon Powershot SX30, that I carry when I want more flexibility . I'm a long-time beginner and am wondering whether these workshops are appropriate for my level.
