I am very happy indeed to recommend Atlas Mountains Guide, led by the highly experienced, internationally qualified mountain guide Rachid Aztat.
I am very fortunate to have participated in treks and expeditions all over the world, and in March 2023 I summitted Toubkal for the 6th time. My last 3 Toubkal treks have all been organised by and led by Rachid, and once again I have been extremely pleased. Rachid is one of only a small number of internationally qualified guides working in the area. He is highly experienced, having summited Toubkal himself literally hundreds of times. He is clearly highly respected and, unsurprisingly perhaps, seems to know every single person working in the industry locally. His English is very good, he is very friendly and above all he is extremely professional. Rachid also owns the Panorama guest house in Imlil, a beautiful place which is named appropriately.
The above should be enough reason to engage Atlas Mountains Guide, but it can be the small things that make the difference – often things Rachid doesn’t even discuss. A good example is a last minute change of refuge on the evening before summit day, because heavy snow meant that the refuge that had originally been booked wouldn’t be able to serve food (or at least, enough food!). Rachid managed to move our booking at the last minute, despite the other refuge already being extremely busy.
When we asked to be able to bring some beers this was no problem at all. Not to the 3,000m refuge of course, but the mules took these on the trek with us – and yes, we had quite a party on the third night! Each time on our trek the food seems to get better. One lunch in particular honestly goes down as ranking up there with Michelin starred meals I have had – no doubt the expended energy of the trek helped, but this was culinary dynamite all the same – made all the better for being served half way up the mountain. On our fourth day Rachid took us on a newly made trail back to Imlil which was breathtaking. Even the minibus to and from Marrakech was VIP standard.
I am confident that Rachid’s trek will not only be better organised and more flexible, accommodating, safer and tastier than any other offering but in all likelihood more economical than that available with an international company, and we look forward to another trek with Rachid again soon.
I am happy to be contacted for a direct reference.

We booked a 4 day trek to the M’Goun range with Atlas Mountains Guide in October 2023. We had a tight schedule in Morocco with a group of 6 travelling from the UK. Communication in advance was excellent and all of the logistics on the trip were taken care of to make the trip work seamlessly.
Our guide Abdul and the muleteers/cooks were great fun, professional and felt like friends by the end of the trek. Abdul struck a great blend of getting us through what was required, guiding, pace setting whilst accommodating what we wanted to do and having a laugh with us and ultimately ensuring we all summitted M’Goun and got back safely and having a memorable trek.
We slept well, ate well and there was always a pot of tea when needed!
The M’Goun trek was scenic, challenging and provided stunning landscape throughout, incredible stars at night and very little in the way of other trekking parties.
From the green valleys to the stunning views from the M’Goun ridge it was a trip we will all remember.

We had a brilliant time on our 5 day tour of the Atlas Mountains and Merzouga desert. Rachid A communicated extensively with us before the trip to make sure we were clear on the arrangements and was happy to answer the many questions we threw at him!
The tour itself was fantastic. Rachid guided us all the way up to the summit of Mt Toubkal, arranged food and accommodation and told us about the mountains - all we had to do is drag ourselves up! After our Toubkal trip was over, a second tour guide (also conveniently named Rachid!) picked us up in a sturdy, comfortable 4x4 to guide us on the rest of the trip. The second Rachid was fantastic - he was really informative, we had a good laugh with him and guided us brilliantly through the beautiful Berber Villages, gorges and the Merzouga desert.

We booked two tours with Atlas Mountains Guide to climb the three highest peaks of the High Atlas.
Communication via email worked well, although certain questions were ignored. For Germans, it is a bit strange when you don't get a written booking confirmation, itinerary and timetable, packing list or payment confirmation.
We were satisfied with the organization of the 3-day trek on Toubkal and Ouanoukrim. Our young guide Ibrahim was very sporty, friendly and helpful and took great photos of us. Our mule driver/cook treated us to delicious food and brought our luggage to our destination on time.
We were not so satisfied with the 4-day M'Goun trek: The itinerary was changed spontaneously without asking us about our preferences and the journey was inefficient to the detriment of our visit to the Ouzoud waterfalls, e.g. our guide had to buy groceries, which he could have done beforehand. We were not so happy with our guide Driss, his English was very bad and he couldn't even do the numbers right. When we climbed the M'Goun summit, we had to wait for him because he had problems with altitude. When we started in the dark, he relied on our headlamps; he didn't have one with him.
As mountaineers with experience in the Alps, we generally had the impression that the guides had not received professional training. For people with no mountain experience, the irregular pacing of the guides could quickly lead to fatigue. The breaks are arranged according to the needs of the guide and not the customers, usually when they meet a colleague to talk. You should be aware that the guide's qualities do not meet the demands of the Alpine region and actively communicate your needs accordingly.

Many thanks to Rachid and his colleagues Mohammed and Ibrahim. Rachid was my guide for 5 days in the Atlas Mountains including Toubkal and organised everything including transport, accommodation, meals etc with clear communications before the trip.
He is very trustworthy and knowledgeable with excellent English language skills. It was also apparent that he is well respected within the mountain guiding community.
Great trip although it was a shame there was no snow.
Cheers Rachid

Excellent!
Rachid arranged for us 3 days mountain biking trip. We biked with the other Rachid. Both of them will do everything to help.
They arranged the bikes (carbon!), the guide (the other Rachid), the transportation, accommodation and food. You just rode the bikes and enjoyed the surroundings.
Rachid made sure we eat at local Berber houses to create more authentic atmosphere.
Overall - excellent experience !

If you and a group of friends want a truly hassle free way to explore the best of Atlas Mountains I recommend getting in touch with Rachid. He can design an experience tailored just for you. Including the flexibility to provide you with options/alternatives depending how the group is feeling.
We mixed up our 3-day trek with doing our own thing either side in Marrakesh (an amazingly cultural place itself). Rachid sorted out our airport transfers, as well as getting us to and from Imlil, which I definitely recommend if you’re not versed in the art of Morocco bartering. Add to the experience fantastic food, friendly conversation and learning about some of the local history of the area. Then this was without a doubt one of the very best experiences of my life.

My friend and I went on a six-day trip, and it was amazing! Before the journey, Rachid was available to answer all our questions and adjusted the tour to meet our needs (ending in Fes instead of Marrakech). Communication with him was easy and quick.
Ibrahim, our guide in the Atlas, took great care of us and expertly led us to the Toubkal summit. The hike was challenging, and he always checked to make sure we were okay. He is a very funny guy with an unlimited amount of energy, and we had a great time with him.
Abdul, our driver for the rest of the trip, took us to beautiful villages, kasbahs, and valleys. He is an expert driver and always made sure we were comfortable. The highlight was in the Merzouga desert: after the camel ride, we spent the night singing and dancing around the fire with the other staff there. Additionally, we went sandboarding in the moonlight… it was amazing!

Rachid Aztat proposed us a three days round trek across the valleys around Imlil and the berber villages. The whole experience has been great! We started from Rachid's Riad Atlas Panorama and walked to the Taccheddirt and Azzadan valleys the first and second day, to come back to Imlil on the third. The valleys are beautiful and breathtaking. The trek is exciting and every corner reveals some wonderful sights. Our mountain guide Abdou was an excellent travel mate, always ready to answer our questions and to show us details of the places we visited, never rushing us and inviting us to take our own time. The food prepared by the cook Mohammed was delicious and made the lunch and dinner breaks really special. We really look forward to coming back to try the yet unseen paths!

Hello - I would like to ski in the Atlas Mountains. I brought my touring skis with climbing skins. I like chairlifts but don’t need them.
I am in Marrakech until 13 February.
One or two day trip.
Many thanks!

l would recommend, that you have a really good tour guide, to inquire if this is possible, it's important to follow the rules and what is considered to be disrespectful in marrekesh, if you have a reliable guide, he can provide the information needed.
