Possibly stupidly I planned to summit Toubkal while looking at some posts when I was home in Australia. This 39yo had done some trekking in Peru but was not in the best of shape. I had made contact with Lahcen in the lead up to the trek and communication was great. I was met as soon as I arrived in Imlil without any issues. I was joined by a lovely young French couple and our guide was a different Lahcen. I can honestly say that without Lahcen reminding me to think about one step at a time, I would have given up. The first day of the hike was great, challenging as constantly uphill but we went at a great pace with many chances to stop to drink etc. We made it to the refuge and enjoyed a great meal prior to getting to sleep early. After a small breakfast we set off by the light of the moon and headtorches, to reach the summit. Tough walk but with the constant assistance from my guide I made it to the top. He showed great patience and leadership to get me there and I will never forget this. I don't think you can go wrong utilising this company. Fantastic, affordable and memorable trip. Highly recommended. Thanks team! Luke (Australian)

the 3 day desert trip was amazing. Ali our guide was gentle, kind and shared so much of his desert way of life with us. There was flexibility with stops and our time which we really appreciated. Felt like a friend showing us around. The whole experience will stay in our hearts. The homestay was a real insight to village life with a lovely family. Thank you

If you have been reading endless reviews trying to choose your guide for an Atlas excursion, look no further. Whether you want to hike Toubkal, day hike village to village or ride horses thru the Atlas landscape, Moroccan Mountain Guides can design an adventure that's perfect for your family or group. After a ridiculous amount of research, I found Lahcen and he helped put together the perfect 2 day Imlil area agenda for our family (3 teens) AND found a fantastic driver to provide the missing travel link Fez>desert>Imlil. We stayed in the Authentic Toubkal Lodge 2 nights and were very comfortable. Day 1 we hiked for 4-5 hours thru villages & climbed spectacular hills w/ Toubkal above & terraced agriculture everywhere below us. Stopped at a Berber woman's hillside village home for tea and a look at her world. Great opportunity. In the evening we joined Lahcen's family in their kitchen and learned to prepare our own tagines and to make bread in the clay fireplace. Super fun. Day 2 we were driven to Asni where good safe horse guides and horses awaited us. We rode for around 6 hours that day, with a stop for the best lunch of our trip in another home. We passed villages, agricultural lands, shepherds and their flocks. We experienced incredible hospitality and the best peek into Berber life in the mountains that one could ask for in such a short duration. Lahcen is delightful and kind (and funny) and his connected team were all great. Just get in touch. You will be happy you did.

What an amazing experience! Highly recommend it! Lahcen has deep connection with the mountains, knows the history, the way of life very well and he’s a wonderful ambassador of sustainable tourism. We did a hike in the valley and mountains, enjoyed local tea with a welcoming Berber family and joined our host’s home for an amazing lunch. In the meantime, we learned a lot about the wonderful culture of the community. Definitely the highlight of our trip!
