My husband and I were lucky enough to have Abdul show us around Morocco for two days during our trip in November 2021. First and foremost, Abdul is an incredible person and a joy to spend time with. He is a family man, fun, easy going, and truly just wants to ensure you get everything out of your time that you're hoping to. Additionally, he has such a great knowledge on his country and not only is he able to provide the history, but he's able to provide incredible perspective as someone who has spent his entire life growing up in Marrakech. We spent one day with him in Marrakech and another day with him in the Atlas Mountains, and both were incredibly memorable and special days. In Marrakech, he took us to some incredibly authentic eateries with amazing food, took us around the souks and showed us the best places to buy things (and we got some great deals too), walked us around the various neighborhoods and told us what it's like to live as a local, we saw gardens and palaces - it was amazing how much we were able to see in one day. The second day we spent with him was in the Atlas Mountains, where we took a nice long walk through the various villages, stopped at a local hotel for some tea and views, and ultimately ended by having lunch at a local family's house which was also incredible and SO memorable. Abdul really believes in responsible tourism, so he's sure to visit the places that truly give back to the locals and he even stopped and bought ~20 notebooks to hand out to the Berber children as we came across them on our walk. He shared stories about some of the projects he's done for the local Berber community, like installing public trash cans and helping bring additional machines to the community to help make rugs, which is crucial to their livelihood.
We have stayed in touch with Abdul a bit since our trip and would certainly consider him a friend. I would recommend him wholeheartedly and without hesitation to anyone who is interested in seeing Morocco from a local's perspective.
