The place is first and foremost a tourist trap, every Tom, Dick and Harry wants to show you something or sell you something. The snake charmers, monkey holders and water sellers are all ways of extracting money from you, as are the fortune tellers, the henna woman and the beggars..... These are the downfalls. The upside is the large number... More

This was great fun, local people living their lives, very few obvious tourists - a really fun day out.

Our group visited Marrakech as the last town on our Moroccan tour. I had been looking for special fabric for a family member throughout the tour, and finally found lovely turquoise woven fabric at a good price and from very friendly and courteous merchants in a tiny shop. I also found beautiful braided trim in another small and crowded store,... More

It's right out of an Indiana Jones movie. A huge square, with exotically dressed locals, colorful dancing groups, weird food booths sporting everything from pigs heads to mountains of snails. Snake charmers blow their instruments while their pet cobras and rattlesnakes dance to their music. But don't take their picture unless you want to part with some cash. Enforcers circle... More

There is more than Tongue can tell in this central Medinah. No disappointments at all as food and every requirement and option are around the stalls. Spices and dried fruits by the ton. Eat out in the square - an experience ++. No 1 for meat and No 14 for Fish.

Very busy, especially at night, quite a spectacle. Beware of so called guides who will ambush you & pretend to show you a direction then fully expect to be paid at the end of it. Out experience cost us the equivalent of £50.

I love the feeling of that place! Now it's easier to go without being bothered by "guides" I have lots of memories there from my childhood

This was a wonderful experience, remember, "everyone gets lost in the Medina". We felt perfectly safe at all times, the "barkers" are not aggressive, but fun in trying to get you into their stores to buy. Lovely merchandise. Do not forget to buy Moroccan tea (as I did forget) and a hammered teapot to take home.

I read many reviews about the Medina and the souks before our trip so I knew what to expect. We had a guide for half a day on our first day which I would recommend as he showed us around and pointed good spots to catch taxis a bit further away from the square to avoid rip offs. As other... More
