what a ride and even more full on at night, street food, entertainment shopping and more dodgemeisters than you can shake a stick at. Forget using Google earth inside the souk use a gps compass and a map or Nokia 'here' gps maps worked reasonably well for me. Buy a Morocco telecom data card (60 DHS for 4 GB) and... More

The Souk is amazingly unthreatening and amusing place full of banter and good humour but there is a code one must observe, once one has agreed a final price one must pay it. We loved bargaining and purchased an great range of well made items including made to measure shoes, exquisite necklaces and rugs. We were particularly lucky to find... More

I found the Souk to be a thoroughly overwhelming experience - the sights, smells, sounds. Bewildering and to be honest, I didn't enjoy it. Felt like everyone was trying to con us out of money. Like if you ask for directions, next thing you find yourself being bundled along by a person to a destination you may not have been... More

We visited the souk twice - once with a guide and once without. When we went with the guide, we were shepherded to carpet shops and pharmacies - which we weren't interested in - and we felt very uncomfortable and pressured. We went back the next day, and the shop owners were so very different towards us - much less... More

A wonderful experience on all fronts. The atmosphere is electric the noise deafening , dancers , musicians , jokers and snake charmers are everywhere but be prepared to pay for pictures you take of them about 3 Dhms for each one but well worth it. The food stalls are great about 40 of them and all competing with each other... More

I love Marrakesh and the hustle and bustle of the souk but it may not be for everyone. You do have to be firm if you don't want to buy and i just generally walk away saying no thank you. Be careful of the henna ladies, they will grab you and put henna on and then try and charge. With... More

Interesting, beware of cheap tourist gifts and brush up on your bartering skills. --- A tip, if they ask for 500dms the lowest they will go is about half of that so you respond with 200dms then bargin (if its worth it) and settle for a figure between!! Its crowded so watch your pockets, although they are generally honest people.... More

The place goes on forever. It reminds me of a scruffier version of the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. As per the title, it's mostly row after row of the same leather goods, lampshades, spices and clothes. It's worth a visit though - have fun bartering, paying maybe a bit more than you should've then feeling satisfied knowing that maybe you... More

Vibrant, colourful and very interesting place to visit so much to see and do. The market stalls are wonderful but do barter with them. The snake charmers are great to see, there are some snakes can be held and you can have your photo taken with them if you are brave enough.

This has got to be done and was a cultural experience. Its easy to get lost but also easy to find your way out, just ask someone on a shop and ask if 'its that way or that way' so they have a choice as they do not like to appear unhelpful. Beware of anyone trying to 'guide' you as... More
