Desert Agafay and Atlas Mountains & Camel ride Day Trip From Marrakech

1,898 reviews
Morocco’s Agafay desert lies within day-trip distance of Marrakech, making it an easy alternative to visiting the Sahara Desert further south. With this private tour, save the hassle of an independent trip and combine the Agafay with a journey into the Atlas Mountains. Explore Berber villages and souks; cross the Kik Plateau, and finish with a camel trek in the Agafay before returning.

There are many mosques in the city, but apparently none so old and important as this one. It is quite big and it dates to around the 11th century. We came by here while wandering around the streets of the city, but did not go inside.

Closed for renovation works which unfortunately will last several more months. until now I don't really recommend the area unless you want to visit the Marrakech Museum or you know where to go as many touts will approach you and annoyingly try to guide through the place or to their friends. The Madrass they told me is awesome but I have to wait for the works to be finished.

It is a very nice structure from the outside, a rather typical Moroccan mosque but considered one of the oldest and supposedly prettiest. It is located in Medina but you can instinctively feel from the atmosphere you are not welcome if not Muslim. So - make note of it from the appropriate distance.

We thought visiting here, as it’s a walk from the square, would be nice. The closer we got, the less touristy it became to the point where we were aggressively pushed for tips/money. We managed to get away from the area with our wallets largely intact but a bit angry ate the way we were treated. Not recommended unless you are on a proper tour with guides. We saw very little as it’s still a building site. Not recommended....!!!!!!
