This tour was the highlight of my mom and I’s trip to Morocco! We spent three days with our driver Khalid, who was incredible! His kind, considerate, and thoughtful nature really elevated our whole experience. He was very knowledgeable, answered all of our questions, and kept us plenty entertained on the long ride with the information he had — especially about Berber culture and the nomadic people. We booked a shared tour, but since it was slow season it ended up just being me, my mom and Khalid. We made plenty of stops along the way and saw so many neat things. Our first night was spent in a cute hotel in Dades Valley. Panorama Hotel. It was clean and comfortable. The camel ride was well organized, the camel guide took pictures and even suggested when to get that epic camel shadow shot. My mom was nervous and Khalid made sure that the camel guide gave her the most experienced and well behaved camel. The night we spent in the tent was very hot (it was the beginning of June). We didn’t sleep much in that hot tent and pretty much slept the entire way back to Marrakech the next day. It’s a long ride so it worked out well. We absolutely enjoyed this entire experience. 10/10 would recommend! And we really enjoyed our time with Khalid, thank you so much for an awesome adventure!

YOU WILL LOVE THIS!! We were in Morocco for a month and saw all the things … this was my FAVORITE. Camel Safaries does an EXCEPTIONAL job. We can especially recommend KHALID, our wonderful driver and guide :) He will take care of you like family!! He is kind, friendly, accommodating, attentive, professional, and loves to share his knowledge of the culture and history of the region. He speaks every language you can find in Morocco — English, French, Arabic, Berber, and Spanish! We thought we’d be in a big van with other tourists and a fixed itinerary … WRONG! It was just the two of us in a comfortable SUV, and Khalid made sure that our tour was PERSONALIZED, CUSTOMIZED, and AUTHENTIC. On our drive from Marrakech to the Sahara (we did the 3-day/2-night excursion) Khalid gave us choices for what to see and do — we chose a walking tour of famous BEN AIT HADDOU (ancient city where Game of Thrones scenes were filmed), visiting several WOMEN’S COOPERATIVES (to see the process of making authentic Berber CARPETS, distilling ROSE OIL, and making ARGAN OIL products), visiting actual BERBER CAVES where nomadic families still live, and visiting a real FOSSIL and STONE/gemstone workshop. These little excursions helped to break up the long drive and teach us about Moroccan culture and history. Khalid also knew all the best/cleanest places to stop for food and bathroom breaks. Our first night we stayed with a LOCAL FAMILY in their impressive KASBAH guesthouse, halfway between Marrakech and the Sahara. It was a welcoming and comfortable place to stay, and for dinner they even made all VEGETARIAN dishes especially for us!! We reached the Sahara by early evening on our second day and were greeted by our camels and Berber camel guide. We absolutely LOVED our dusk and dawn camel rides through the dunes!! We felt 100% comfortable with our camels and our guide (even though he did not speak much English) … clearly both the camels and guides do this all the time and are EXPERTS :) On the way to the desert camp they stop so you can climb a dune and watch the sun set, and the same for the dawn/sunrise camel ride back the next morning. The desert camp is basic but clean, secure, and lit up nicely with Moroccan lanterns. It’s a UNIQUE and FUN place to stay!! It was the first time that we were with a group of other tourists, but we had our own tent (the beds are twin-sized and in frames — not on the floor where desert critters may roam). The food was delicious, and again, they made vegetarian dishes especially for us at Khalid’s ahead-of-time request! The camel guides play traditional Berber music by the fire after dinner, if that’s your thing ;) There is a tidy shared bathroom in the center of the camp (sink and toilet with running water). Do not expect a shower and do not take more than a basic overnight bag (the rest of your things are kept secure in a locked storage room at the hotel where you have breakfast and a shower the next day). At every point on our trip we felt comfortable, safe (we are women), well-informed, and well cared for. Camel Safaries’ owner ALI answered all my questions via email prior to our trip, then kept in touch over WhatsApp once we were in Morocco. A heartfelt THANK YOU to Khalid, Ali, and Camel Safaries for the experience of a lifetime — we couldn’t be happier!

I traveled with a family friend and we had a fantastic 4-day tour with our driver/guide Khalid. We started in Marrakech and finished in Fes. Khalid was very helpful and knowledgeable about the different places we visited. The selected accommodations were also really good. Highly recommended, if you want to experience Moroccan culture in a stress-free way.
