My favorite part of my 2-week Morocco trip was the visit to the Sahara, and Hmad was the 2nd-best part of that. When we were coordinating before the trip, he consistently followed up to confirm details and to answer all of my random questions. He then picked the 3 of us up on time from Marrakech, so we spent the 1st night in the Dades and the 2nd night in the desert, and then he dropped us off at Fez the 3rd day.
Not only was he a good driver and a kind and friendly character during these long drives, but when our Marrakech Airbnb host reached out after 2 hours of driving to let us know one of us had left a passport there, he very calmly and efficiently coordinated with a colleague of his to pick it up from the host and give it to a cabbie to meet us in Ouarzazate. (Ok fine, it was me that left the passport there, I am an idiot. But in my very minor defense, it was a chaotic trip while I was jetlagged and short on sleep.) But ANYWAYS, I share this story that makes me look dumb to showcase how amazing Hmad is. So I highly recommend Merzouga Journeys for Hmad alone.
However, the best part of the Sahara visit for all 3 of us the ATV ride the 3rd morning, so I strongly recommend that as an add-on (for an extra 50 euros) if you can. I felt like Mad Max and the views were gorgeous. Just don't slow down while going uphill or you'll get stuck. The luxury camp was probably worth the extra money with the Western toilet and shower, but note that you can hear everything that goes on in the toilet and you'll have to hold the shower head. It did heat up very slowly, but it did get to a nice temperature by the end. The only thing I wish I had done was to make it a 3-night trip so I could spend a full day and a 2nd night in the desert.
If you're thinking about visiting the Sahara, just do it - it's worth it! (Well, maybe unless you have terrible motion sickness, etc.) And if you're going, go with Merzouga Journeys - they're worth it! (No caveat)
