Just over an hour's drive from Marrakech, you can get beyond the tourism track by simply pulling off from the main road, taking paths into villages of the High Atlas...and... exploring! The High Atlas has retained a remoteness which until recent decades was virtually complete and contains villages where the way of life has changed little for centuries. My job is to help you to find the path where the pavement ends.

We arranged this through the hotel but after doing the trip it is as easy to book a taxi and pick up a guide when you get there. The journey out was a nice trip through the countryside and the obligatory stops at Berber house...More

We booked a 4x4 tour of the High Atlas Mountains and we are so glad we did. The scenery is stunning. The guide was very knowledgable and you can stop whenever you want. The 4x4 is air conditioned or you can have the windows opened...More

After the chaos of arranging mini buses at the depot, we had a fantastic experience, up and over the High Atlas. Numerous mountain ranges as far as the eye could see in all directions. We climbed to vast heights. On the go for 13 hours,...More

We took a trip organised by the hotel in a 4x4 to telouet and the high atlas. Stunning scenery, a verdant green river of flowers runs down the otherwise arid valley, smiling kids who have now been introduced to Werthers sweets. A real snapshot into...More

We went on a trip that our hotel manager recommended and it was worthwhile. We saw berber villages, the rocky desert and different landscapes. It was different than the Medina, definitely worth doing. While it was more expensive than a smaller excursion to the Ourika...More

This is a must do when visiting MArrakech. I would recommend going on a monday as you can then visit the Berbur markets. Beautiful sights and a small insight into how the local people live. They do tend to stop in small shops along the...More

We did this four wheel drive tour, it was good but at times the road looked unstable and honestly quiet scary. If the vehicle had tumbled over - would anyone find us for days.... We had tea in a village and that was good, lunch...More

Linda, sounds like you had a good time but somewhat a shaky ride up here in the High Atlas! Really, my feeling is that whoever it was who drove you up into the mountains should have realized: this is not a 4 x 4 adventure,...More

Myself, husband and mother really enjoyed our stay in Marrakech specifically because of Todd Zankert. He introduced us to the true culture and warmth of its people with trekking the High Atlas Mountains one day, spending the day in the coastal town of Essaouira and...More
