We found it almost by accident as we were looking at visiting the garden next door, we found you could get a ticket for the 3 attractions on the site, warning the queues get big, 2 hours is not unusual, however after queuing for about 45 mins we were advised the queue to the YSL museum was shorter then with the triple ticket which saves money you can bypass the queues. The museum was very interesting showing several of his well known dresses and a lot of others showing their links to Moroccan dress. it was very interesting. They also have a very nice cafe with tasty coffee and pastries

A highlight of my trip to Marrakech! A stunning display of the work and a life of this design legend, yet truly someone I knew or cared very about, apart from his brand YSL.

As fashion and design are not a part of my world.. Yves St Laurent was just a name. But touring the Museum and garden I quickly came to appreciate not only all that goes went into his effort to build a fashion & design brand, but how one man (one couple) came to be influenced by Morocco and themselves a huge impact culturally in return

I'm stunned at some of the negative reviews. I

I found the staff incredibly helpful and attentive, the price within reason for housing a collection of this size and complexity, the building itself .. beautiful, and the garden and Berber Museum.. breathtaking. And it costs $ to maintain a property of this size, train the staff and keep the standards so high.

Highly recommend. For me, I would rate this as a highlight not only of Marrakech, but all of Morocco.

the gardens are a lovely way to appreciate local flora. you don't get to see YSL's home but the museum showcases the history of use of cultures, colors, cuts and fabrics that made him the the over-powering designer for decades. Too cool. super fun.

Let's keep this real which i don't think people have. When you buy tickets, most people book the 3 in 1.
There is a price of 10 euro for the YSL museum only, then the gardens and something else. Most people pay 24 euros for all 3.
We didn't want to see gardens as the gardens at the hotel La Mamounia are free and brilliant we hear. So after queuing for ages, we were told we had to go down the road for 100m to the museum to another queue as we couldn't get YSL tickets only from that booth. Only all 3 items.

The YSL museum even shocked my husband, and it is me that is the designer having studied at Manchester Uni.

YSL loved Morocco and did indeed live there as well as Paris but he spent time there to chill with friends and it looks like his designers threw a few designs out there which were totally Moroccan but the western world was where the money was (yes, designers when they become big or famous no longer do their own designs in their entirety, it isn't possible)
Don't get my wrong YSL loved colour and embedded himself in those wonderful Moroccan colours but you just wont see it at the YSL museum.

There is one room. It isn't very big. The lighting is very very poor, it is dark with a few spot lights. The information plaques are on the floor and really hard to read, probably because they don't want you to read them because there aren't many YSL designs there.

There are a handful, maybe 6 classic YSL designs inspired by Morocco, but that's about it.
Most of the designs are by another designer, I cant remember the name but it threw me because 2 out of of 3 designs we loved were another designers.

Even the famous butterfly cloak isnt an original, its a copy. Once you walk through this really small room of designs that arent even his, you end up in the gift shop of 1000s of books to buy at a high price. Thats it. Museum over!

As a designer I am disappointed beyond belief. Also you cannot take pictures inside the museum where the clothing is. Don't bother, go online you will see more...

The ‘a Moroccan friendship’ exhibit was interesting and films shown in the auditorium too. However, I expected a bigger museum with more of a permanent exhibit on Yves Saint Laurent. Could take around 40 mins including watching the film, so expensive for the time but nice to see if you’re already going to Jardin Majorelle next door.

This museum is rated as 3 hours and more .Not a hope. Maybe, if you fell asleep in the theatre for two hours. The exhibition I saw was one of the partners creations of moroccan style which consisted of about 20 dresses .Though exquisite I was expecting more. I have been to Morocco three times and glad I left this museum to this visit as there more stunning architecture and culture sites out there than this place

Definitely skip the queues by booking tickets online - they are not fussed about the entrance time so don't worry about that. This was a nice but small museum - great if you are into fashion but some may find it a bit culturally deaf. Shop is very expensive and perhaps over hyped but they are trying to do a nice thing. Probably the busiest attraction we visited (even more so than Bahia Palace).

A very well-curated museum and an opportunity to see YSL's brilliance and attention to detail up close. And the gift shop has a great selection of items at all price points. Together with Jardin Majorelle, this was a highlight of my time in Marrakech.

The museum and gardens were the least favorite part of our Morocco tour. It's too bad as the garden and the museum (especially the Berber exhibits) were great but the attitude of the workers there was so bad and other tourist were also crammed in to make it not great. The Clothing Museum was closed along with the shop for renovations even though nothing appeared to being done. The tour of his home was available for $700 not that I would spend that much if Yves personally came back from the dead and took me on it. Nice to visit but won't be back.

It was interesting to learn that YSL rehabilitated the Jardin Majorelle when it was in a serious state of decay which needs to be considered as a significant contribution of YSL to world heritage. The YSL museum is next door to the Jardin Majorelle and is a nicely organized exhibit but all the displays are in French. Though it was a well displayed exhibit if I'd known everything was in French we would have skipped it.
