My family and I (a group of 5 travellers) decided to book the 6 hr Desert Sidecar tour found on the Marrakech Insiders website. The short review is that it is absolutely worth the money and we have some really great memories now. It is not an overstatement to say that this was one of our favourite activities that we had done in our 2 week trip in Morocco.

Our pick up time was initially at 10am and we received an email the night before to mention that the 3 sidecars we booked (2 people maximum per sidecar - one behind the driver/guide and one in the sidecar) would arrive at 9:30am. We only had a short walk from our riad (less than 100m) to the nearest gate where the three sidecars were waiting. The sidecars are nothing short of exciting and a really cool way to tour Marrakech. It was clean, they provided us with helmets, gloves and for the person in the sidecar, a leather blanket unrolls to protect you from the wind/sun. A tip for this would be to bring your own sunglasses as the Moroccan sun is harsh and to bring a scarf to protect the lower half of your face from sand, sun and wind whilst doing this tour. Also, because our tour was on the 23rd of December at the start of the Moroccan winter season, they even provided us with 3 hot water bottles!

Each driver/guide we had was exceptional and all had unique backgrounds to share! Felix had excellent knowledge of Marrakech, including it's culture and locations. He was extremely courteous and respectful of the locals we interacted with and was very friendly. Simon is a local Marrakchi with a very charismatic and friendly disposition. He shared many tidbits about Moroccan society that we would not necessarily have learned about on other guided tours we undertook. Lastly, Daniel has a very fascinating background and has had years of experience riding motorbikes. His work in Morocco means he has interesting stories to share about the people and the geography of Morocco. My family and I raved about each guide and could not have asked for better people to have shared the experience with us. They deserve a huge bonus for the great service they provided!

After picking us up, they took us to a town outside of Marrakech to show us an old Koranic school where we met a descendant of a scholar. The local we met was a friendly man who had kindly opened part of his living quarters and also had tea as well as biscuits ready for us. The view from this place is spectacular. The locations that they brought us to were not exceptionally touristy and usually, they stay away from tourist traps but instead, interact with the locals and create a tourism market that actually benefits the community instead.

For lunch, they took us to the luxury camp based in the Agafay desert called Scarabeo. Excellent food and very filling! The guides were also so friendly and participated in a game of bocca with us.

Ultimately, we really enjoyed the tour and we are so happy that we got to experience it with Daniel, Felix and Simon. As the title says, you would really miss out if you did not book this.

FYI, we booked this 6 months in advance and they did not need a reminder of our booking but were excellent with communication via email etc.

We had a great time experiencing this fantastic trip in a motorbike and sidecar outside Marrakesh. In the expert hands of our guide, Felix, we motored out of the city, excitingly through part of the medina and into the countryside. There were a whole group of us and we met up in the old oasis which is suppied by water feeding down from the Atlas mountains. Whilst there, we were treated to what could only be described as an outdoor banquet of superb food (arranged in advance) before returning to the city. The trip was safe - helmets provided. Both my wife and I loved it and would like to go for a longer tour next time we return. Felix was highly knowledgeable and informative (and more than prepared to show us diffent aspects of Marrakesh) - but that applied to all the guides from the reports received from the rest of the group.
We will definitely be back next time we are in Marrakesh. It has been the highlight of our trip so far.

We started off the day with a sunrise hot air balloon overlooking the Atlas Mountains. Mounir (our guide) then picked us up in the sidecar after a traditional Moroccan breakfast. Mounir was very knowledgeable and welcoming from the get go. Overall it was a very cool and memorable experience that I would definitely recommend if you want to see the sights in a fashionable and fun way!

Communication was easy, as English is spoken. Furthermore, email communication between Felix and myself was fab. A must do if in Marrakech!

This was an excellent experience!! We went with our family of five (kids age 11, 9, 7), and they all said this was their highlight from Marrakech. The guides (Oussama, Nabil, Amine) were so friendly and fun for the kids, and the equipment was high quality. A very fun and unique way to see the city. It’s a little tight but we were able to fit one adult and the smaller kids in the sidecar together and the 11 year old had a sidecar to himself. Highly recommend!
Review from Hadley, age 9: awesome! It was a long ride but it never got boring! The guide always made sure you were comfortable, and they were really good at taking photos! I used the display goggles on the helmet to prevent dust, but it worked! If you said “slower!” They went slower, “faster!” They understood the assignment! I would definitely do it again.
Review from Connor, age 11: Very fun! My driver made my experience even better while doing wheelies and going really fast in open spaces. Make sure to wear glasses while going to prevent dust from your eyes while driving off-road. We also got to see a bunch of camels and other wildlife on the tour.

This is an excellent little trip in a brilliant (and comfortable) way to travel via backseat of motorbike or sidecar, with wind in your hair (or helmet). Our guide Hussein took us out of Marrakech to a fascinating vintage car museum where Youssef lovingly restores classic cars from the 20s through 60s, then via a crash course in the three languages of Morocco and the until recent irrigation system. For a three hour trip, we covered a hell of a lot of ground, and it's going to give you a lot of stuff you won't otherwise find in Marrakech.

Highly recommended.

The tour was absolutely incredible, the vintage car was such a lovely idea to have a tour in the city. We went me and my friend, Adam, on a tour with our guide Hussein who absolutely makes the ride more interesting by giving us a lot of pieces of information about Marrakech and giving us some great history showing us perfect sites, and was very helpful. Would 10/10 recommend this for anyone looking for something unique to do in Marrakech.

A superb, fun and informative experience, thanks to our guides Safouane and Hafid. We would never see parts of Marrakech without the insiders sidecar ride today. Our tour guides provided us with the history of all the places we visited in the city and took us to parts of the old Medina where we would never have visited without them. It was so much fun to ride in the sidecar on a beautiful day in Marrakech. If you really want to experience the true spirit of this city, I would strongly recommend taking this 1.5 hr ride.

This tour was awesome! We got a great feel for the city, all the sidestreets, how the Moroccan people live and work, the old French fort, as well as the French quarters of the city and some wealthier areas of town. Benjamin was a great guide who loves his city and truly enjoys proving tours, which made the experience all the better! Highly recommend.

(He also took us for a tea at his Hotel Riad Le Perroquet bleu which looked like a lovely clean beautiful riad to stay in!!)

This was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Marrakech. From beginning to end all was superb. We ( a group of 22) spent the whole day on the sidecars with super easygoing and friendly drivers. They had as much fun as we did and they made this trip even more special. We stopt for lunch at this gorgeous hotel in the desert and they showed us so many beautiful places around Marrakech. If ever in Marrakech and in for an amazing adventure? Don’t look any further!
Thank you Marrakech insiders, and Juliette for making this trip one to remember.

This was an amazing experience! We started the morning with ciel d'afrique for the hot air balloon ride. This alone was an amazing experience! Neither my husband nor I had ever done anything like it before. It was magical. After the balloon ride and a nice little breakfast, our Marrakech Insider, Safouane, picked us up and took us back into town. This was such a fun way to see Marrakech. Safouane was a wonderful guide, knowledgable about the history of Marrakech, and an enthusiastic narrator of life in the city today. This was a totally safe and super fun way to see the city. Plus, you get extra style points by looking super cool on (in?) the sidecar. I highly recommend both the balloon ride and the tour! If we find ourselves back in Marrakech, we would absolutely do another one of the tours.
