About
André Heller's ANIMA is a magical place of surprising beauty that you wouldn't expect in the loud and crowded area of greater Marrakech. It's not only a garden: it's an impressive botanical staging. 250+ types of plants, from bamboo over palms and cacti, interact with pieces of art by Pablo Picasso, Keith Haring, undiscovered local talents and many more. Furthermore, two museum rooms present artists from around the world. Our own Café Paul Bowles offers meals made with spices and ingredients from the garden like saffron, mint, olives, etc. Enjoy fresh organic fruit juice, fine teas and delicious pastries...

    hidden gem
although this is about a 40 minute drive outside of the marrakech city centre, it is well worth the trip! a beautiful sculpture garden. we spent around 2 hours here and didn’t feel bored at all. i found a hammock hidden amongst some trees snd chilled there for about half an hour; it was so amazingly peaceful i could have happily stayed there all day! there are also plenty of benches around the garden, and a lovely cafe at the entrance.
Dear amylss, let me thank you for sharing this review. ANIMA is a garden and while we do have a lot of artworks hidden between those wonders of nature, it’s not a museum. Therefore we’re really happy to read that you spent some time relaxing in our hammocks! Next time stay all day, we’d be glad to have you. Kind regards!

Anima garden à real storytellers area that makes you happy
Very nice garden with integrated art. Beautiful design and colours that make you happy. It is like a storytelling. Nearly every tree has a surprise, there is a wood with painted trees, cactus collection, museum, possibly to drink and eat something. Can spend 2-3 hours. A shuttle bus is arranged from koutibia moskee to the garden at regular times.
Thank you very much for sharing these impressions of your visit. It’s fantastic that you call it « storytelling »! Enjoy your stay in Morocco!

Worth the drive for great sights
Had a fantastic trip out to these gardens. It was lovely and peaceful and you could wander around at your own pace admiring the plants and artwork. There were different sections and plenty of seats to take a rest and take in the surroundings. We stopped for lunch at the cafe which was reasonably priced. We had a private taxi to/from Marrakesh centre, takes about 50 minutes to drive there

    Stunning
I really enjoyed this garden. It's about 30km outside of the city and the distance helps in giving it a quiet air. The plants and flowers are beautiful, and the various art and sculptures make for wonderful and at time eerie photo opportunities. There's a lovely cafe and gift shop too. This is the garden to visit in Marrakech!

    Stunning garden adorned with sculptures
Lovely tropical garden with many sculptures set within. Sinuous paths lead to garden rooms, each very different and set off by sculptures, some disquieting, others whimsical, others thought provoking. A chic cafe and store provide more reason to linger.

Lovely few hours - totally chilled
We loved this quirky garden - even the teen was impressed by the hidden sculptures and hammocks where you could hang out and chill. Cafe was nice and they have vegan coffee plus snacks. We preferred this to the secret garden even though it’s a 45m drive out of Marrakesh and we chose to go here rather than Jardin Majorelle because it was way more tranquil - no waiting to take pictures/crowds of people. Top tip - book the free transfer before you book the tickets if you want to get the free bus option.
Thank you so much for your wonderful 5-star review of ANIMA! We are thrilled to hear that your experience was so positive and engaging. It's fantastic to know that the hidden sculptures and hammocks provided a perfect spot for relaxation and enjoyment. We're also delighted that our café, with its vegan options, added to your overall experience. Your feedback about the tranquil atmosphere of our gardens is especially appreciated, as we strive to create a peaceful and enjoyable environment for all our visitors. Thank you also for highlighting the importance of booking our free transfer service! We look forward to welcoming you back to ANIMA Gardens on your next visit. Nice gardens with some really quirky and colourful sculptures. It’s smaller than expected with a fairly high entrance fee. A shuttle bus from Marrakech is included in the price but we went in on the way back from the Atlas Mountains and there was no shuttle-free ticket price. It’s a bit of a trek for quite a small place but it’s nice for a wander and a mint tea. Nice cafe with an amazing view of the Atlas Mountains.

These gardens are breathtaking. There is something to see around every corner. The vibrant colours and tranquility are lovely.

The roof top restaurant isn't as cheap as other places in the centre of Marrakech, but it is worth visiting for a drink or bite to eat, admiring the beautiful view.

The garden is a fair way out of Marrakech, about a 40 minute drive. My top tip is to get the free shuttle bus. It runs on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. You will need to book the shuttle bus on their website and there are only 8 places (so don't just turf up). The bus leaves at 09:30 from the "Parking and Lavarge" sign on the road behind the Katouba mosque. And Anima contact you a few days before you depart to confirm you have a place. You'll get approximately 2.5 hours before the return back to Marrakech at 12:30 and that is sufficient time to wander and enjoy the place.

A fabulous sculpture garden with views of the Atlas Mountains and only 40mins from Marrakech by free shuttle bus. The gardens can be seen quickly in 30mins, or take a half day to properly enjoy them and relax on a bench, in a hammock or Berber tent while soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying the sculptures and surroundings.
Such a relaxing and inspiring garden. There’s also a wonderful cafe serving delicious coffee, drinks and homemade food including lunches, cakes and saffron ice cream! Highly recommended.

We didn't expect too much before booking this excursion but we were very surprised of the beautiful nature and art in such quiet place. We liked it even better than the popular Majorelle Gardens. Very nice to escape the busy city for a day to relax of the beautiful nature. The home made ice tea is super good!!! And staff of the little cafe is really kind.

This garden is great. Loads to see, it was definitely worth the 30-40 mins trip out of Marrakech.
There is a little cafe there with a rooftop looking over the Atlas Mountains, which seem so close to the touch. I would recommend the homemade lemonade with mint and Moroccan pizza.
I would highly recommend if you are planning on going on an afternoon trips and that gardens interest you.

Very underwhelming once you get there. Clearly spent a lot of money setting it up but was very unkempt and full of over grown weeds. Compared to Yves St Laurent gardens (which is a lot more expensive) it’s a very poor relative.
If you’ve got time to kill then go, but otherwise wouldn’t recommend it, book the free shuttle bus BEFORE you buy your ticket and for 12 euros you get the shuttle and entry. You only need 30 mins max

Thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear that the visit did not meet your expectations. The gardens are maintained by a dedicated staff of 20 people. It is our philosophy to let some areas grow wildly; this is clearly different compared to other gardens, as you mentioned in you review. We hope that you enjoyed the rest of your trip and apologize once again that your visit was not satisfactory.

The garden is a bouillabaisse of colors and smells and is meticulously curated. The walk was very relaxing and you pretty much “discover” the art pieces as you walk along. Also, I would definitely recommend having a tea on the roof of the restaurant, the view is just breathtaking.
