It is a fantastic experience, and don't let the comments below put you off, as I would not take a private tour out to the Desert as the company in the bus made all the difference. The scenery of the Atlas Mountains, the night skies, the cool desert sand in March and seeing life from a different continent, experiences you can not have if you don't go.
Now to those elements that could have been improved. First driver was dangerous overtaking on bends over the Atlas Mountains, could not enjoy the trip. We were moved buses, not at our request, and with little explanation, drivers English was very poor. The second bus driver was considerate, but unfortunately the air conditioning did not work on his bus and was very hot, but once we had changed seats next to window, that was reasonable. The first stay in the Mountains was fabulous with a really good host, rooms could have expected more, but they were clean. Camel ride needed better saddles and that would have been perfect. However we did nearly get left behind at the camp, due to a runaway camel, the guides at the camp are young and again very poor English. The less said about the toilet at the camp the better. The guides covering the Ksar Ait Ben Hadou and the Todra Gorge both had good English and were enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The lunch in the middle of all the days were more expensive than 10 euros and not worth it, and you can get a bit fed up of Tagine. Would not take children!
