About
The riad-museum Le Jardin Secret is one of the largest and most ancient palaces of the medina of Marrakech. It is a place that has kept ancient structures intact that are of an extraordinary cultural value, linked to the art of gardens, architecture and Arab hydraulics. Popularly known as Riad Loukrissi, it has been the sumptuous residence of the Qaid U-Bihi who was the head of the Haha tribe. The riad rises up in the Mouassine quarter (on the main thoroughfare and but a few steps away from the Mouassine fountain and Mouassine Mosque), and comprises two large gardens and one of the highest towers of the medina. The museum provides you with a wealth of historical information about Marrakech's architecture, water, and gardens. You will also find a boutique, a bookshop and two cafes inside Le Jardin Secret. The cafes offer you up fresh, homemade products that you can eat in lush and peaceful settings.

Very nice little garden - certainly not « secret » as there’s a huge sign right outside that you can see from the end of the street and inside it’s very crowded. BUT having said that, it’s got interesting history and design details that you can learn about , a very peaceful and serene vibe and the cafe is lovely too. I thought the entrance price was a bit expensive as the garden is small and the price doesn’t even include drinks at the cafe, but that’s my only complaint.

We visited this beautiful new garden in Marrakech. Despite the activity being a bit pricy, we enjoyed the place and how they explained the project of re-building this environment. What a great project and team work. The result is breathtaking!

One of my favourite things to do in Marrakech, Le Jardin Secret is well worth the entry fee and if there had been more time I would have gone back. It was beautiful, a total escape from the busy streets outside. It felt like a really special retreat, with beautiful planting and landscaping. Unlike Majorelle Gardens which is very busy and really just full of people queuing for instagram posts, Le Jardin Secret is quiet enough to really enjoy the gardens. There is a heavily planted section that you enter through, and this transitions to a much more structured section with the same few plants repeated with precision. We unfortunately didn't stay for lunch but wish we had been able to. Highly recommend making time for this, it will give you a welcome break away from the heat and chaos of the medina. It's a really enchanting place, instantly fell in love with it!

I've never thought I'd find such an amazing place amidst the very noisy Medina! It was well entertained, quiet (around 40db) and beautiful at the same time. The staff was very friendly and especially Abdou who took his time talking to us about the plants and explaining to us the history behind the building, its importance and everything about it in such a passionate manner. You'll occasionally find expositions there as well which is a plus.

HONESTLY I am not the biggest garden lover but the place is Saturated with history and has great architecture I only say it was underwhelming because for the money it literally will take u a maximum of 20 minutes to see and the views are standard once you go to some other places in the city. This is a place you go if you have the time and want to see more. DO NOT do this if it’s your only choice in a day. Overall you will smile and enjoy the vibe but you will not be overwhelmed

It would be very easy to miss this garden and walk past amidst all the hustle and bustle, but if you would like to escape all of the commercial enterprise of the Medina take some time to visit this garden.

Once you have paid and walked through the entrance it is like being in a different world. The first large court yard garden is well maintained with bench to sit and relax and take in all of the plants.

There is a small pool with turtles before you walk into the larger garden and the opportunity to sit of the roof top cafe for some reasonably priced food and drink.

Well worth taking an hour or so our of your day to visit.

like the title says I dont really care for gardens so why am I giving this a 5 star? Well, as has been mentioned, it really is an oasis of tranquility away from the chaos and bustle right outside its walls. I felt really relaxed sitting there hearing the flow of water in a picturesque place.
Couple of small exhibition pieces were also nice to look at, then back to the mad throng outside!

Our favourite place to visit in Marrakech. The least busy of the attractions, gorgeous gardens and agriculture and a lovely story about preserving natural beauty. Sit in the sunshine and enjoy a drink with the sound of water trickling around you. Enjoy the quiet in contrast to the Souks right outside - this little Oasis is a great place to go. Sure it is a bit pricey but the drinks and food inside is reasonable and optional. We didn't do the Tower ticket as we had seen some views already but worth it I am sure!

Le Jardin Secret was one of our favourite finds in Marrakech on this visit. We stumbled upon it, and found it to be a beautiful oasis in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the medina.

The gardens are immaculately kept and very peaceful. The cafe offers great drinks and snacks in shaded areas and the staff are extremely welcoming and professional.

In particular, Ouafa in the shop was most knowledgeable about the local area, and about the artwork on offer by local artists. We really valued her help in choosing something that was not only beautiful, but also offered us a personal connection.

This is definitely worth a visit. We didn't find it as a result of any activity, but merely by walking in and purchasing an entry ticket. You will love this gem.

Le Jardin Secret has been rescued by a team of dedicated workers and the pride in their work is reflected in the amazing garden itself, but also in all of the pictures and write-ups that are on display. The water system is fascinating and I would recommend watching the video if you are interested in how it all works. It's quite amazing to see how the water has been harnessed and feeds through the garden using a very old, but intricate system. The garden has been reclaimed from disuse and has become lush and well-cultivated. It is pleasant to walk through and a number of seating areas have been arranged.

It gives you the feeling that you have stepped back in time to enjoy a hidden gem.
