About
The riad-museum Le Jardin Secret is one of the largest and most ancient palaces of the medina of Marrakech. It is a place that has kept ancient structures intact that are of an extraordinary cultural value, linked to the art of gardens, architecture and Arab hydraulics. Popularly known as Riad Loukrissi, it has been the sumptuous residence of the Qaid U-Bihi who was the head of the Haha tribe. The riad rises up in the Mouassine quarter (on the main thoroughfare and but a few steps away from the Mouassine fountain and Mouassine Mosque), and comprises two large gardens and one of the highest towers of the medina. The museum provides you with a wealth of historical information about Marrakech's architecture, water, and gardens. You will also find a boutique, a bookshop and two cafes inside Le Jardin Secret. The cafes offer you up fresh, homemade products that you can eat in lush and peaceful settings.

    A little taste of heaven
Such a haven of peace and tranquility. The skilled planting made for very beautiful gardens and the water flowing around and through them enhanced the experience. Lots of shady places to sit and the bird song from the trees was enchanting. Hard to believe that the other side of the Riad walls there is a bustling and noisy souk.

Quiet experience in the busy Medina.
Beautiful gardens right in the middle of the Medina that you would not expect. It included foreign plants from other countries that was interesting. There’s also a cafe to stop and relax inside. I didn’t go into the tower but you can go for an additional fee.

    A little oasis
This is a little oasis away from the busyness of the souk. Our guide at the tower was superb - he inter-changed between three languages to give all the information and answer questions in a remarkable way. The garden itself is a place to sit and be, it got busier as the day went on.

    Relaxing place
Great afternoon to spend relaxing walking around the garden at very little entrance charge. To make it more pleasurable we noticed the cafe served Casa Blanca beer - which we could not refuse to participate in! Nice place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the souks!

A haven in an often frenetic city.
We winced slightly at the higher entrance fee in comparison to other venues, and wondered if it would be worth it. The answer is Yes!!The gardens are beautiful and both very different. A blissful retreat from the frantic negotiations of the souks and their eye-wateringly manic carts and mopeds threading perilously through pedestrians. The films about restoration of the gardens and buildings and controlling the water were interesting. Blissful being able to sit in the shade admiring the plants and structures to the soporific sounds of water. Not too sure about the canned bird song though! Can't comment on the visit to the tower to see the medina... we thought 40 dirhams too high, especially as a number of restaurants and café have terraces with medina views.

    Chilled time out
Nice chilled environment away from the chaos of the souks. Not huge but very relaxing. We had a snack and a drink at the terrace cafe which was nice and they were happy to make one of the sandwiches vegan to accomodate me.

    An Oasis of Peace
The Secret Garden is a peaceful gem in the midst of Marrakesh’s bustling, often hectic old city. Its extensive plant collections are well-placarded and exquisitely laid out. The architecture of the surrounding riad and water features complete the experience. The garden’s two cafes provide excellent lunch options. Well worth a two hour visit.

    Lovely garden
Lovely garden, views, history. Don't need guides tour. Go yourself. We got a taxi and tried to walk back ended up getting a taxi. But it was a good day. Adults 100 entry.

HONESTLY I am not the biggest garden lover but the place is Saturated with history and has great architecture I only say it was underwhelming because for the money it literally will take u a maximum of 20 minutes to see and the views are standard once you go to some other places in the city. This is a place you go if you have the time and want to see more. DO NOT do this if it’s your only choice in a day. Overall you will smile and enjoy the vibe but you will not be overwhelmed

Le Jardin Secret was one of our favorite spots in Marrakech. It's not huge (two riad gardens combined), but it was exactly the oasis we needed after the bustling crowds of Palace Bahia and le Jardin Marjorelle. The entry is directly across from Cafe Arabe, and the Jardin only reopened in 2016 after 70 years of neglect.

It's a stunning tribute to the riads of the past, and a wonder for anyone who enjoys botanical gardens and the engineering of irrigation systems.

Get a tea on the terrace rooftop and enjoy looking out across the trees.

Note - we arrived around 10:30am, so it's possible it may be busier in later hours.

This is a gem; firstly it is a haven of tranquility in the bustle of the souk. Then it is a masterpiece of water engineering and horticultural supremacy. To discover the story of its restoration only a few years ago with the ingenuity and craftsmanship involved makes one's wonder much the greater. A place not to be missed.

We couldn't beleive the vast beauty that was through a door from one of the alleys among the souks and shops.

The gardens were fantastic and gave opportunity for taking in the views, learning about the restoration and relaxing.

The cafe was priced just right and had enough variety to do lunch or a snack.

A must visit when in Marrakesh!

This garden is like an oasis in the middle of a confusing noisy Medina. It was built on the site of a 400-year-old palace near Fontaine Mouassine. The two gardens in it and the oriental architecture are truly exquisite. You can see beautiful pavilions, soothing fountains and lush greenery here. There are two upscale cafes, clean washrooms, free WiFi here but at a price of 60 Dirhams per person.

The gardens were cheap to get into and kept us busy for a few hours. There is lots to see and lots to learn about the history of the area. We also spent some time in the terrace cafe overlooking the gardens which offers great views and a good lunch.

Stumbling upon this beautiful Riad by mistake early one morning, we decided to go inside and take a look as the sun rose in the sky - mainly to escape the intense heat. For 80dh this peaceful garden offers shade amongst the beautiful plants, trees, pagodas and pavilions as you follow the water channels through this once dilapidated old property whilst learning about its history, operation and restoration.

At the far end is a tower that you can climb, however this and the cafe were closed until mid morning. Still, it's a great view from the first terrace anyway.

Toilets are clean, and there's a lovely little gift shop with friendly knowledgeable staff who are happy to tell you about the gardens and it's history and answer any questions you have.

Very nice little garden - certainly not « secret » as there’s a huge sign right outside that you can see from the end of the street and inside it’s very crowded. BUT having said that, it’s got interesting history and design details that you can learn about , a very peaceful and serene vibe and the cafe is lovely too. I thought the entrance price was a bit expensive as the garden is small and the price doesn’t even include drinks at the cafe, but that’s my only complaint.

It is a lovely riad that consists of two gardens: an exotic garden with plants from all over the world (for example, South Africa, Madagascar, Australia and Latin America) and a traditional Islamic garden restored following the likely nineteenth-century layout. The riad was watered by a unique underground irrigation system (khettara), which is still operational today. You can understand much better how it works after watching a very interesting movie in one of the visitable rooms on the ground floor.
You can also visit (additional payment required) the 17-m tall watch tower. The room on the tower's top floor has a richly decorated ceiling and an excellently decorated door. You can admire the whole medina from the small terrace on the top of the tower. At the bottom of the tower is a nice cafe serving hot and cold beverages and snacks.
Le Jardin Secret is not too secret any more, so arrive at the opening time or in the late afternoon to avoid crowds.

As busy and hot as Marrakech gets, this is a place to get away from crowds and for a very reasonable 60dh per adult wander the restored riad gardens.

Coffee 25dh and orange juice 20dh under a large umbrella or shaded wall... what more could you ask for?

Oh yeah, there art and history of the restoration too...
