Watch Out For The Donkey

This is a triangular souk of the coppersmiths, It's busy and donkeys and their leader come and go picking up and delivering material. Worth stopping and watching.

During our road trip we found several places like this one. If you like copper souvenirs then you might find interesting this little market.

Seeing the metal workers is a pleasure (seeing it, not doing it, I'm sure!). This square is very nice, even without them.

Several copper utensils shops with coppersmiths hard at work besting metal.into usable shapes .. I am from india hence artisan and artisanship is not uncommon.. It is a very very common sight. Yet this intrigued ..every place definitely has. Different stuff which is yet enthralling .. Super shiny vessels and gives a peek into the daily lives of moroccons.. I... More

Having got "lost" for the umpteenth time wandering around the medina, we unexpectedly came across Place Seffarine. Love how Fes affords one the opportunity to see true craftsmen at work! Was interesting to take a short "time-out" to observe the coppersmiths going about their daily business.

The metalworkers' Souk is firmly set on the tourist trail to the famous medieval Chouara tannery and provides an ideal rest stop to pause over a snack and coffee at the Seffarine cafe before proceeding through the medina. This cafe also provides a panoramic view of the square, Quaraouiyine library, and the daily activities of the craftsmen forming brass and... More

One of the stops of guided Medina tour, the copper smiths square. Hard to believe these craftsman’s still beat away at shaping the brass and copper wares the traditional way. There retail shops double as workshops, were medieval methods are used in producing utensils for the kitchen. Locals still buy these handmade products, not sure is it the price, quality... More

Next to the Qarraouiyyin university, you find a small square where crafstmen hammer copper and tin cauldrons. A lot of sound and some yelling around but the atmosphere is great and the teahouse also.
