French/American citizen, I grew up in Morocco where I spent the first 18 years of my life. I have just returned from a 2 weeks trip there with family and friends (total 10 people)after 25 years. On of the highlights of the trip was this tour of the Medina in Fez. I had been in this Medina before and got lost even with local guides… the main difference of this tour is that it focuses on the crafts and the men behind them… Amazing interaction.. great experience. Jess is super easy to work with. Strongly Recommended!!

Engaging respectful and curious people with the crafts people in their working environment is utter joy. Many thanks for bringing you group closer to the pumping heart of Fez medina and for spending time to write a review.

We did a short tour with Culture Vultures - Artisinal Affairs Day Tours and wish we had booked them for a full day. If you truly want to meet the crafts people and avoid the tourist shops that most guides take you too then book with Artisanal Affairs - they are very respectful of the crafts people you'll visit. Also - if you get a chance - have them take you to The Center of Vocational Training in Handicrafts in Fes. It's well worth your time and a great place to meet the master crafts people and the students and to shop for student made art and craft items.

Myself and my husband went on the artisanal tour with Sadiki on our second day in Fez. It was one of our highlights for all of Morocco. From the beginning, Sadiki made us feel comfortable and at ease walking through the busy medina. He was charismatic and very knowledgeable about the craft world, about the history of the city and about morocco in general. He was able to answer each of our question and continually provided insightful details and commentary about each of the artisans we visited. He was also able to adjust on the go and customize the trip to our specific interests. We saw a metal worker, a wood carver, a brocade maker, an embroiderer and so many other artisans. We also visited the tanneries, the Medras, a 13th century school and several mosques. The hours flew by! We would highly HIGHLY recommend this tour. It opened our eyes to the effort, time and skill involved in making the items we saw in the souks of morroco and made us appreciate Fez in a way we otherwise never would have.

Sadiki took us on a very informative tour to a number of artisans in the Médina. We went to textile artisans (and got the most beautiful pashminas), the last brocade maker in Morocco (unbelievably complicated process), wood carvers, metal workers, etc. this was the real Morocco not the touristy Morocco. Highly recommend!

I wanted to come to Morocco because I am a textile artist and I was hoping to learn from the amazing craftspeople. Throughout my trip I had great experiences admiring the things people made. I speak a small amount of bad french so other than gestures and some conversation in broken english or french, I was not able to ask many questions or express my appreciation throughout the majority of my trip. My experience with Jessica through Culture Vultures changed everything! She took my sister and I to the working studios of all sorts of textile makers. The makers themselves were tipped for their time and seemed genuinely happy to share their skills and time. Jessica clearly has a good reputation in the community leading to artisans being pleased about our visit. She was able to translate all of my questions and even communicate more abstract ideas and questions that I never would have been able to get across. This lead to a meaningful and impactful experience for my sister and I. Jessica also customized our whole experieniece for us on the go. We were able to work with the expert tassel maker to create some custom earrings for our friends back home, and even have a weaving tool made by the local welders! If you are interested in textiles, makers, and connecting with people on a personal level as you travel, this is the tour for you!y
