The beach area offers pretty views, and a variety of restaurants from those specializing in fish and on the beach to hole-in-the-wall places serving Middle Eastern food and American fast food places. We enjoyed a couple of hours people watching.
If you wanna go for a nice walk along the beach this is the place to be. Easy to get there from the citycenter by tramway. Its a few km long and at the end you have the morocan mall. Very nice walk. To do!,
The sight of the atlantic ocean and restaurants at the sea front is really awesome. A nice place to stroll, see and be seen too for the locals. Some restaurants have swimming pools and the menu is varied and reasonably priced

I found Casablanca safe just like any other busy city. I don't think you have to be worried if you follow the general safety precautions applicable for any area of tourist attraction. I have noticed many Western women safely walking along the corniche. Just avoid dark and deserted areas specially late in the evening, which you have to do even in Paris or New York.
