When I was planning my visit to Morocco, I was looking for a company that would be willing to provide a custom itinerary for a private tour and deliver an experience that was a bit different than what was on standard offer for a visit to the Atlas mountains and the Sahara desert. Morocco Sahara Desert Tours went above and beyond what I had expected and truly helped to make our trip a memorable one. Youssef (owner of the company) proved himself to be an expert communicator, perfectly fluent in English, and attentive to every possible detail. He was willing to create a completely customized itinerary, including a visit to the Hannsjörg Voth art installations in the desert near Merzouga (it is mind boggling that people are not including this site on their tours - they are really worth visiting! See photos attached. Go off roading in the desert and be the only one there!). I also inserted some extra time in Merzouga to go hiking and that was also not a problem. He let me select my own hotels which I appreciated and pick all of the itinerary stops per my preference. I know that not everyone wants to get involved to this extent in their itineraries but this is what I was seeking and he was more than willing to oblige, while still providing important and useful guidance along the way.
Our "on the ground" experience was just as fulfilling. He paired us with Mohammed for a 4 day itinerary from Marrakech to Fes. Mohammed was a great pick for us as he checked all of the boxes for us - friendly, engaged, safe driver, fluent in English, able to guide us even though he was technically a driver and not a guide. He followed our carefully planned itinerary without any pressure to engage in other activities that we didn't want. We felt very comfortable under his care and were able to just relax and enjoy our visit. We really enjoyed spending time with him and felt like we were traveling with a friend rather than someone we had just met. Our only regret was not having booked a longer trip with this company as it occurred to me after our visit that we easily could have had Youssef help with our transfers and visits to areas outside of the mountains and the desert. I had been reluctant to use his services in that way since I thought they were mostly a company for desert tours but in retrospect that would have been the ideal plan and Mohammed would have been a perfect fit for doing so. The cost for our tour was also very reasonable. I can't recommend his company enough and would without hesitation book additional tours with him should I ever find myself in Morocco again.
It is my sense from my experience planning our trip that it is quite difficult to find a tour company that is willing to offer services of this nature in Morocco. In my opinion, this company is offering a very unique way to experience Morocco and I give them my highest recommendation!

We travelled to Morocco to experience as much of the culture as we could. This trip lasted 3 days and we saw and learned so much about Morocco. Our driver Hamid was courteous, fun and made sure our experience was 5 stars. Highlights of the trip were riding Camels and ATVs in the Sahara, the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, and the Atlas mountains. Would definitely recommend requesting Hamid for any native English speaker as well as he is fluent and excellent!!!

(from Michelle and Mara) This trip was the experience of a lifetime! My daughter and I had high expectations going to Morocco and the tour exceeded everything we imagined. We took the 3 day Marrakech to the Sahara to Fes tour plus added some extra days to visit Chefchaouen and Tangier. Mubarak our guide was amazing at expounding on Moroccan history, sites of interest, the culture, food, and nomadic life of many Berbers during the entire tour. He also made an extra effort to ensure our every need was met. If you love ancient sites, you'll love Ait Ben Haddou. Riding camels in the Sahara was utterly surreal. The desert is so beautiful! The luxury tent was comfortable and it was so nice to have a shower and toilet in it. The guides performed on different drums after dinner and it was quite entertaining. I highly recommend this tour and advise you to request Mubarak as your guide. You will be glad you did!

We did a 16 day private tour all over Morocco with Morocco Sahara Desert Tours. From start to finish the entire trip was perfect! Prior to arriving in Morocco, I communicated with Youssef via email and told him all the spots we wanted to see in Morocco & he planned an incredible itinerary for us. He took care of every detail & provided us with a great itinerary for our trip. Our driver Ali picked us up at the airport as soon as we landed & was there with us every step of the way for our entire 16 days. I’m sure all the drivers are wonderful but Ali was above and beyond anything we could have asked for. He took care of us like family & made sure we had everything we needed. We are a family with 5 small children ages ranging from 8 to 3 and this trip was by far our easiest international trip & we’ve been on a lot. I highly recommend Morocco Sahara Desert tours, they will not disappoint you!

We cannot recommend Morocco Sahara Desert Tours high enough! We enjoyed our trip with Ali and had a good experience. I am a planner and look for a tour operator that is willing to work with me in organizing the trip. Youssef (the owner) was very professional and calm in the many back and forth emails answering all our questions, letting us chose the hotels/camps without hesitation and adding stops we wanted to include. Youssef has been really great from the start and very responsive which made it easy to work with him. Also very flexible when we wanted to add another leg to drive us from Fes to Chefchaouen after two nights in Fes. Our driver Ali was amazing, knew the roads very well and very patient - thank you to Ali for taking us all the way to Chefchaouen!

We had a great experience with this agency. Our trip was well planned. We were slightly late from the earlier excursion but this company tried hard to make sure we see the sunset on the highest spot of the dune. Incredible views. Our guide also took great pictures of us.
The camp was so beautiful and it was beautifully lit with many candles. The food was very good, both dinner and breakfast, and the campfire entertainment was fun. Our tent was very clean and cozy with warm soft natural rugs on the floor.
We highly recommend this company and it’s tours!

Fantastic 3 day tour from Marrakech to Fes taking in a lot of sights along the way from canyons, views and valleys, to underground irrigation tunnels and local markets. Highlight had to be the camel trek across the Sahara desert to a luxury desert camp. Our driver and guide Mubarak was amazing, always helpful and friendly and full of patience. Also very good at driving!
