Terrible zoo. Felt absolutely shocked seeing the animals in such a bad way. They are skinny. Withdrawn and sad.
The cages and enclosures are run down, unsafe and dirty. The whole place smells of urine. The animals don't have anything to play with, no space to roam. No privacy. It's like a torture chamber.

I am going to report this zoo to animal welfare. Its absolutely disgusting.

I ‘m not a big fan of zoos but I do find it interesting to visit them when overseas to see how well the animals are cared for.
My visit to this zoo was very underwhelming. It covers a large area and looks like a park. Indeed, you could wonder around a large part of it and not even realise you were in a zoo. There seems to be more cafes, fairground attractions (many looking deserted and run down) than animal enclosures. The limited number of animals I did see appeared to be quite heathy and in large enclosures. My advice is to give this place a miss; there are hundreds of other places in Algiers which would be better to visit.

Absolutely shocking experience. The zoo is completely forgotten and abandoned . The animals are in shocking condition. It was very sad for me to look at them. It doesn't feel safe. The cages are very very old, you can see walls cracked. There's no signs, you can touch most of the animals thru the fence which was quite scary especially with 2 very young kids. I felt sad I wanted to cry. The place itself is in amazing location. The park itself is absolutely amazing! The location is amazing . Ideals for walks with family. It breaks my heart that all those animals are in there. You can tell and see they are kept in terrible conditions and nobody looks after them. Very very sad experience. Unbelievable it exists.

Its open space, limited contents, scuffy and run down. Must have been interesting in its hey day. Its ok if you want a walk but theres more attractive places in Algier - try Garden d;essai instead.

Counting amusement park in "Ben Aknoun" is the most beautiful in Algiers, and perhaps in all of the country, thanks to the vast area of forest and various games that are available on them. And thousands of families prefer to visit the park at the end of each week in the holidays and even in the rest of the day to spend hours inside the spacious its parts and achieve a degree of relaxation and tranquility for adults and fun for young and cheerful.

African-American character

Overshadowing African character design of the park, where the monument statues Jamilan represent two sides Africans great a distance of about 30 meters from the outer door, as well as the construction of a number of shops in the form of African homes with circular character known, as there is a barn small animals in the middle of "Ben garden Aknoun "dubbed the" African zoo. Most animals were in great condition, very traditional enclosures. you will be walking to get to places, although there is a motorized car train that I found once, there is no schedule and unclear as to where and when to get it. No train, No funicular, no maps, so it was a real adventure. The tiger, bear and wolves area was astounding.

The animals are in terrible conditions, it's sad. It is unacceptable that places like this remain open, it is inhumane.
