When the French build this church they incorporated some Islamic elements into the building. It is an example of a well executed mixture of styles and as such, it's a nice building to visit. Recently they have restored the inside and outside back to its original appearance. You can visit the inside as well. Donations are welcomed. The view is... More

The Notre Dame d'Afrique is one of the few surviving churches in the Algerian Republic from the French colonial period. As far as ecclesiastical architecture goes, the outer facade itself is not remarkable. However, the interior of the church, its history, and the serenity of the grounds within which it stands are all worth the hike to get up here.... More

This was one of the stops on a little tour that I did with a hired driver. The church is beautiful and there are some very picturesque views from the property.

The location of this beautiful church is high on a mountain from which a breathtaking view of Algiers can be admired. Inside the beautiful and peaceful notre dame I really enjoyed looking and paintings from the bible and also reading people's prayers and thanksgiving which are fixed on the walls. It felt like travelling to a different era.

Absolutely beautiful architecture, really captivating. A very peaceful place that is extremely peaceful. It can be a bit difficult to get to if you are taking a car, however there are also cable cars that will take you up for next to nothing (approx 25p?). The priest and nuns are absolutely lovely and always have a smile on their face.... More
