The cathedral itself is great, and I was very surprised to find that is so wellkept With New painting etc. It is very elegant. I also liked the sayings on the walls where it said that we should pray both for "us and the Muslims". I understand that the cathedral is very popular for also muslims because it is a... More

Beautiful spot overlooking the city, lively outdoor area with lots of locals, and a lovely walk back to the city centre. Inside, the church is recently refurbished with some unique characteristics (like Mary, pray for us and for the Muslims) and Arabic script, which I can't remember ever seeing in a church. It's beautiful and peaceful inside and out. I... More

No signage around, so had to ask for directions all the way. Unfortunately, got there a few minutes before closing time, but didn't need too long to look around as it's quite small inside the church. Serene and beautiful, with lovely music.

It is a bit of a trek to get up here. The best option is to take a bus from the seafront - just ask around which bus to get on, and it will only cost 20 dinars for the ride. The road up to the church is VERY winding so hold on tight! It is, however, well worth the... More

It is not easy to find this beautiful almost 150 years old basilica as it is located above the city! So by the time we got there, it was unfortunately already closed. But it was worth the time just to see it from outside, as one can see from the pictures. And the view from there is breathtaking. So don't... More

A magic place where a christain, moslem and jewish cimetery meet. Notre Dame d 'Afrique doesn't offer only a unique view on Algiers but demonstrates also that they are places where moslems can pray in a church.

One does not necessarily expect to see an ornate Catholic cathedral in the centre of Algiers. The many ex voto tablets on the walls are very touching and the three-language message on the wall behind the altar is extremely touching. A small shop sells postcards, some booklets and a couple of CDs of organ music, recorded in the cathedral. The... More

ND d'Afrique is a historical place from the 19th Century. It is ideally located on the road from Bab El Oued to the West, overlooking Bab-El-Oued, Algiers bay and the Mediterranean sea. The church opens at 3pm. The Ex-Voto plates inside (thanksgiving marble plates) are worth discovering, celebrating many successes or recoveries from wrecks (a few ships models are shown).... More

Great views of the city and the bay. Worth a stop if passing by. It's not a location where you can spend hours.
