This is certainly a grand old building and is quite a focal point for the centre of Algiers. However, it does not seem to be open to the public. It’s a busy place because of its location - it’s at the end of the most popular shopping street in the city and surrounded by popular cafes and restaurants.

Algeri is the capital of Algeria and the province of the same name. It is also the most important port in the country. The Arabic name, "le tarantan", derives from a group of small islets in front of the coast of the city and currently no longer visible as incorporated into the protection barriers and breakwaters of the port.

The Grande Posted is a must see for any tour of Algiers. It is still a functioning post office with incredible interior craftsmanship. The wood and stop work is incredible right in the middle of town. It's a great meeting point and you can use it as the start/stop point for the east-west metro.
It's probably the best downtown landmark in the city.

Iconic landmark in the down town, perfect example of the Moorish/Algerian/Andalusian architecture, it is a post office and not really a touristic attraction, however you can take a look at the interior, stunning indeed and reminds me of Alambra palace in Granada-Spain

In the heart of the city the post office dominates.
It is very impressive with many steps leading up to it.
Inside it is unique with elaborate old lighting, mosails and woodwork.
They just don't make buildings like this any more.

Beautiful building both interior and exterior. It's located in the nicest part of Algiers so you have to stop by. There are a few nice cafes nearby so start off with a coffee, visit the post office, wander through some of the local book shops on the main shopping street and then finish with a lovely light lunch.

Algeria is a beautiful country to visit. More beautiful than Spain France Italy or Greece. Beautiful beach, cheap and delicious food, very kind and welcoming peoples, in Algeria you have a coast of 1200 km, mountain, desert, and you have the 4 seasons
