Unfortunately, the museum was undergoing renovations - like so many places in Algiers - but definitely worth a visit. Some beautiful and fascinating artifacts and another view of the city.

The museum is small but your ticket also covers the Museum of Islamic Art. The Antiquities museum has some really lovely mosaics that are the highlight. Great value for the ticket price and you don't need to dedicate a lot of time to see it.

Our helpful concierge directed us to this Museum in the heart of Algiers, capital of Algeria. Musee des Antiquities is best visited midweek. Items from Algeria’s rich heritage can be viewed in this museum. We discovered an exclusive collection of exhibits and explored the cultures, traditions and age old beauty of this fascinating country. We were told when in Algiers, we had to add the museum to our list of activities. Pleased we did, we were not disappointed at the wonders that are contained within the walls of this museum.

The Museum of Antiquities is quite large and of high quality. More interesting to me was the separate Museum of Islamic Art. Of varied period and quality, and none too well displayed, many of the exhibits were beautiful.

It is one of the best museums I have ever been to. It s not so large that you feel overwhelmed but full of the amazing history of Algeria.. from Christian Jewish and Islamic Art, it also has Roman and Byzantine artifacts. Its a must see in Algiers

Most museums in Algeria don't allow photos, but this one does. The museum has some fantastic rock art from south Algeria (find more outside the building too). There is a great bronze collection, and some large statues. The mosaics though are very colourful and detailed. Not the biggest, but some of the best in Algeria. Being able to take photos makes it worth the visit.

The museum has an outdoor area, and five large rooms. The Islamic Art museum is next door, and the Bardo museum is a short walk away.

As with many museums in Algeria, photography is not permitted once inside. The collection of Roman era mosaics and statues here is relatively small but is still quite interesting and is worth taking the time to visit.

This museum is not large so one does not have to rush through it and take the time to savor the exhibits. The Museum of Archaeology is located right next to it so I would recommend a visit to both. Admission fee is an astoundingly inexpensive 20 Dinars.
