It was HOT day in July and Adventureland was pretty packed. My wife, daughter and I were from out of town (California) but we specifically went to Adventureland to meet up with family in Iowa. We all had a great time that day. The park was well-maintained, the food vendors had good service and the rides were a good mixture of ones for the kids and ones that teens and adults could also enjoy. There was one coaster in particular, Monster, that was very impressive. It was one of the best coasters I've ever been on (includes visits to 3 different Six Flags, Disney World, Disney Land and Universal). So if you are looking for a fun family experience and a park that is well set up and run well, I recommend Adventureland.

This is one of my favorite amusement parks to visit, kind of like visiting an old friend every time I come here. Since my last visit, the park has been sold to a small chain company of parks. I was a little nervous about this sale as previous sales of other parks have not gone well for those parks. So far, the new owners are doing a good job keeping things up and running and looking nice. The employees were very friendly, at least most of them were. The rides were running fairly well. It was sad to see some older favorite rides removed and replaced by newer ones that are less than thrilling and unique. Food prices have gone up dramatically, and the quality is not quite as good as before. The tables in one of the outdoor dining areas were very dirty, and the workers were just standing around, chatting and ignoring the need to clean them. One thing that surprised me is that this park adds tax to the parking charge. I do not think I know of another amusement park who does that. Minor inconveniences, but the rest of the day was a good one.

Buy tickets online to save $. Premium parking worth the price - online. Family friendly, clean, reasonably priced, rides for all ages and risk takers. Water park and lacy river are awesome. Adult beverages available for purchase too!

I have been looking forward to checking this park out for awhile and I'm so happy that I finally got to visit. I had so much fun. The coasters were all great, the newly renovated Underground was probably my favorite since I rode it more than once. I missed a few flat rides but I got a lot of photos since I walked around the park and saw a lot of signs that I loved. I was there with a group and we had the opportunity to have a history tour which was very helpful for someone like me that has never been there before but knew about some of the history of the coasters for example. It was a lot of fun, it was bigger than I expected. It has some live entertainment, I met the mascot, things like that makes a park really fun. I would recommend if you are in the area to spend a day here, I will certainly return if I return to that area and visit again.

Park and staff are always great. However, event parking is a complete joke. Try to leave the parking lot after concerts, 4th of July, etc. is always a complete train wreck. Parking lot attendants just sit in their golf carts and no one directs traffic. It is complete and utter chaos. I have been to much larger sporting events, concerts, places, etc. and there is always attendants directing traffic at all exits and merging lanes to make sure things flow apporiately. Not here. I would recommend staying away during major events unless you want to sit in a parking lot for 1+ hours. Adventureland needs better management for sure.

This is not a good place for short children. Most rides my 9 year old couldn’t ride. He was too old for the kiddy rides but not tall enough for the big kid rides. The staff were rude and the cost was way too high. They do not have signs stating what is not allowed in the park. We all know you cannot bring weapons or outside food and drinks. However, you are not allowed to have a pack of cigarettes in your purse either. So after you walk 5 miles to the gate, pay $253 to get in plus parking and wait in line 40 minutes you are told to throw them away or take them back to your car. Really put a sign up so we leave them in our car before we make the long walk to the gate. Also, three waters and one small pop cost $15.

After paying $70 per person for 4 people, we were extremely disappointed! Many of the rides were not open, including food shops. Several rides we have enjoyed in the past like teacups and swings are gone! I strongly suggest you go elsewhere if you are looking for a quality amusement park!

We are from Indiana and I grew up coming to Adventureland. This was my first visit with the new ownership. The morning of our visit there had been down pours of rain. At 7:30 a.m. I had reached out via FB Messenger to the park to ensure they were going to be open before we made the 1.5 hour drive to the park. They said yes. We were excited to spend the day at Adventure Bay and get our bag of Kettlecorn that we eat all day long. Well, we arrive and are told that Adventure Bay would not be open due to storms. Um.....the doppler shows NO STORMS. We have bought the tickets and there was nothing we could do because we were headed home the next day. We get to the gate and are told only 2 food stand are open. Again, nothing we can do, we had invested in this back in December. We asked at Guest Service for compinstation and they said, "I'm sorry". So, Adventureland get's their money but we don't get the service we paid for. Mind you the Aquatic Center's around the area were all open.

Perhaps look at chaning the policy to "I'm Sorry" but let's compensate our guest. When you take care of your guest they will tell others that you took care of them. They will come back. Sadly I don't know that we will be back after this experience.

By the time we left it was sunny and 85 degrees out. No reason to have the waterpark closed.

I’ve been going to this park since it opened; I attended as a teenager; I took my children there many times, and I’ve taken grandchildren there. Since new management took over, the only positive thing I have to say is it looks nice. The staff is unfriendly and rude starting at the entrance and throughout the park. My food was outrageously priced and the burger was charred black. Condiments were all empty and the condiment table was filthy. All rides are run by young people who appear to be no more than 14 and 15. They ask yo to leave personal belongings in baskets that are not carefully monitored. My grandkids all said they thought the State Fair was much better. This is definitely not the family- friendly environment and atmosphere it was in the past. I live in Altoona and will not return… I’d recommend driving to Waterloo to Lost Island.

We went a few weeks ago and had a group of 11 people. Our experience was horrible will probly never go back. They changed so many things about it including raising the price, taking out the good rides, they pretty much only accept card now so we had to walk all around until we found a machine that would take our cash and covert it on our card and the worst part was they pretty much took out all the little kids rides so my 2 yr old grandson was turned away from literally every ride except one. How heartbreaking to have him wait in line all excited to keep getting turned away. We used to be able to sit on kiddie rides with our kids but even know they have this stupid metal height bar and if you don’t reach it your child can’t ride not even with an adult. Horrible experience

Went with 4 kids ages 6-11 (and heights 45 to 61 inches). Plenty of rides that everyone could do, from the tame to the extreme. Visited on a Monday/Tuesday, was a little busier on Monday but lines were not bad on either day. Rides that were my kids favorites (Falling Star was the top choice, tornado roller coaster also) were often no wait.

42 inches is a key height threshold for rides, under this and you'll be much more limited. 48 was another.

A little annoying to pay $15 per day to park but overall the costs of both entry (two-day pass) and food in the park were reasonable for what was offered. Parking lines were not long either day (we got there both just before and just after open) and our parking spots were close, enough to go out to the car to get swimming stuff or cold lunch easily. They stamp you to come back in, and you can leave the parking lot and come back the same day too without paying again.

Both days we spent the first part in Adventureland and the second part in the Bay and we felt this was a good choice to not get maxed out on any one thing. A decent amount of walking but we did the skyride a lot which goes from one side of Adventureland to the other (and through the monster roller coaster which was really cool) and everyone enjoyed. The Bay was busy and the wave pool was probably the highlight of the whole trip, we spent the most overall time there. They have life jackets so you can send your kids into the man-made storm with confidence. Also enjoyed the water slides (my favorite), obstacle course, and lazy river.

We felt that two days was enough to be able to sample everything and also be able to repeat things that were favorites. One day would still be worthwhile. We didn't do much shopping though or any of the carnival games or shows, not really our thing. All interactions with staff were great, everyone was friendly and knowledgable when we had questions.

i have taken my grandchildren every year for 16 years. This year the park closed at 6pm (we always stayed till 9pm) Several rides were closed? We have always gone to the circus and this year it was $3 a person. If you ordered a drink they charged $1 for a straw! The cost for parking has gone up by $5! I kept thinking GREED! For 13 years we stayed at Adventureland INN but stopped that 3 years ago due to the continuing high price and declining condition. I will look into a different amusement park in the future.

We took our 3 year old for her first visit to an amusement park. It was just what I remember growing up with, quite a few of the same rides and attractions and perfect for young kids. We were impressed with the circus which showcased some great talent for 3 dollars a person. The park seemed to be well maintained, clean, and had beautiful flowers/landscaping. However, what would make this park great would be a universal caring staff. I can imagine that working rides and being a life guard would be somewhat boring. Yet, many of the younger employees were not helpful or friendly. My husband waited at an empty swim up bar for over 10 minutes and the bartender never looked up from his personal cell phone to acknowledge him, so he left frustrated, without getting a beer. When we rented tubes at the water park, we were given wristbands with no explanation of what to do with them (You can return the tubes for partial refund). Some employees were great, personable and gave directions on rides while others said nothing and didn’t even look at us. The lack of care or concern for patrons among some of the younger generation is alarming and dangerous. This park could be so much better if somehow there was a way to create work ethic or value. I can imagine it isn’t easy to fill so many positions these days, but I’d hope that after being open for so long Adventureland would have it together.

They have terrible customer service. They changed their refund policy between time of purchasing tickets and the time they lowered their prices. Could not get a refund when they lowered their price. I closely watched at the beginning of the summer for planned trip later in the summer. I noticed prices went up but not quite to full price so purchased tickets knowing they could be refunded (I checked the policy). The price went down right before our trip and went to refund tickets and they said they were non-refundable and looked on site and they had changed the refund policy, likely anticipating upset customers would be refunding their tickets and repurchasing.
