Great fun adult entertainment. Food is excellent and the park is beautiful and very well maintained. Parking is ez for seniors and just a enjoyable afternoon even if you don't gamble on the races. However. it's fun to bet on a race and watch your...More

Arlington Park Race Track is a wonderful place to go with the family. We picnic'd and had a wonderful time. Rented a picnic table, and had room for us and the grandkids. I have been taking my family there for over 25 years, and it...More

We were at tables on the terrace and were abruptly asked to leave by racetrack employees. We were told the tables were reserved. No one EVER came to sit there. Rude. We usually have a lovely time but this left a bad taste...

We live near by- so can go often. Grounds and buildings are immaculate. Plenty of family activities and help with wagering if you need it. Can get up to the rail to watch the horses and have picnic tables and live music also on most...More

I am not a gambler, so going for that reason is a waste of time. The grounds are beautiful and the horses are amazing to watch. The downside, the food and beverages are expensive. About the same as you would pay at a Cubs or...More

I'm suprised they haven't started charging for parking, because it seems greed has taken over here. The $10 regular entry isn't too bad - but what nerve to charge people for trying to save by bringing in a cooler or food bag. Guess they don't...More

Unless you have specific reservations, then everything would be first come, first served. For the best seating, I would get there early, maybe not an hour, but at least a half hour. On a busy weekend, or top races, you... More

RV Parks in or near Chicago (4 Replies)
Any ideas or suggestions would be welcome. My husband and I are thinking of driving up to visit Arlington Park this weekend. We're looking for nice, quiet and clean. Thank you!

We had family stay at Illinois Beach State Park in northern Lake County last weekend (only a few miles south of Wisconsin state line). (It's not convenient to Arlington Heights, but there are very few campgrounds in Chicagoland.) There were plenty of vacant spots. It was quiet and seemed safe. The only disappointment was that this park offers no water hook-up, just electricity. Grocery, restaurants (Emily's is good) and drug store are near the entrance to the park. It is an okay place to stay...More

CTA Ventra card? (9 Replies)
I will be flying into Midway for a weekend in mid August and plan on purchasing a 3 day CTA unlimited pass for $20. I need to get to Arlington Park Racetrack on the Saturday, which is serviced by Metra. Can I load additional funds on the same card to use on Metra or do I need to purchase a different fare card? Thanx in advance for your help.

Ventra cards are not valid on Metra. You need to purchase a separate ticket when you board at Union Station. Follow the signs to the Metra ticket windows.
Arlington Racecourse to Milwaukee (7 Replies)
We are planning to visit to the racetrack at Arlington Park on a Thursday afternoon in September. After the final race we will be driving to downtown Milwaukee. Google suggests that the journey is 78 miles and will take 1 hour 20mins, is that fair for that time of day?

That's a fair estimate. Note - the route you'll be taking is partially a toll road. If you have a smartphone with access to data here, put the Waze app on it. That will give you real time drive times when you'e on the road.
