We took an afternoon trip from West Yellowstone, Montana to the Mesa Falls in Idaho as the crowds were terrible in Yellowstone National Park. It was a beautiful stop with a cute visitor center and easy to travel walkways to the stunning upper falls. The lower falls were a quick walk from the car park and also beautiful.

We went to lower fall on our way back from Yellowstone. I was told the upper fall is nicer but I am not Able to hike trail. SO glad we got to see this amazing place.

It was a picture perfect day for my husband and I to visit Upper Mesa Falls! I think the rainbow came out just for us! Just kidding! We were talking to a person that works there, and he said it comes out most every day around 9:30 am and when it is sunny (of course). The waterfall was a sight... More

Our hotel recommended we stop by Mesa Falls on the way out of town. We were not disappointed. What a great way to start our week long trip into nature.

Both the upper and lower falls are worth the visit. They are a mile apart from each other. The upper falls are only visible by driving down into the canyon to the Forest Service/State Parks Visitors Center, then following the boardwalk/stairs. The falls are mesmerizing. The lower falls form a beautiful, thundering cascade, but the viewpoint is from high on... More

This was a wonderful little walk to some spectacular scenery! My kids are 5, 6 and 9 and they loved every minute! The flowers on the trail were beautiful and the falls took our breath away. An easy walk and well worth the time.

We stayed in Island Park (near Ashton, ID) while visiting Yellowstone Nat'l Park. This was a great side trip and worth the stop if you are passing through or staying in that area. Quick, easy, and amazing views. There's a visitor center as well.

The falls are beautiful. I would def recommend making the trip out to see them. There are great photo ops with this scenery. Missed the cabin as they closed just as we made it there.

So close to Idaho while visiting Yellowstone, my kids wanted to add the state to their "collection". What to see/visit? Well thanks to previous Tripadvisors we chose this and we say thanks. What a nice drive down the scenic byway from West Yellowstone (about 45 minutes) and what a nice stop particularly at Upper Falls. There are nice short loop... More

Byway connects Harriman State Park or Island Park areas with Ashton. Pleasant drive with views of the Tetons if heading south. Can walk down boardwalk to overlook Upper Mesa Falls; can only see Lower Mesa Falls from a distance. Both are worth short stops.
