We visited Donkey Beach in August. Beautiful, idyllic beach! The waves here can be unpredictable though. After lugging all of our gear down to the beach, we thought the wiser of trying to get in the water. My husband and I are both excellent swimmers, however, having a healthy respect for the ocean, we thought the better of it. Also, beware... More

My husband and I enjoyed a nice day at Donkey Beach. It was a little tricky to find at first. Other Trip Advisor directions were helpful! The beach was very secluded and the views were stunning! The waves were too rough to get into the ocean, but we enjoyed watching the surfers.

We only found this secluded spot as we rode bikes on Kauai Path. It is set below the highway so it cannot be seen. I think there might be a small parking area off the road because I seen a path coming out of the vegetation. We just brought our bikes down to the beach. No matter how you get... More

A little hike down and onto this gorgeous secluded beach. It was the most beautiful beach I had ever seen. Spent several hours relaxing. Some topless women, but so few people there and spread out.

We were on the bike/walking trail and stopped at the lookout for Donkey beach. When we looked down we saw something laying on the beach. We climbed down the rocks to the beach and found a Monk Seal sunning himself. There are plenty of signs to let you know not to disturb them so of course we didn't get too... More

This is a nice beach to visit for listening to the waves and reading a book in peace. Not many people around, and only a few surfers in the sea. Too dangerous for swimming. it must have been even better back before the paved trail when it was a naturist beach. It's a good place for a beach walk.

It may have been the rain, or that you had to take a bike path to get there, but this beach was totally empty, and amazing! It was really stunning and felt like we had our own private island. The waves were out of control, so we didn't step a foot in, but just enjoyed the view!

It's still a beautiful beach, but alas, I remember the beach from my first visits to Kauai in the late 1980s. It was a nude beach frequently only by visitors willing to take the trek across a farmer's sugar cane field down the unpaved road to the beach. Land developers bought the land and have built expensive homes on the... More

My wife and I made our way down to donkey beach this morning. We're so glad we decided to do this. There were probably a half dozen people on the whole beach. What a beautiful place - paradise!
