We first traveled up to the lookout in 2007 and now ten years later it's just as great as it was before. We've had great timing. being there when the weather was sunny and therefore the view was clear all the way down to the coast. The area and view has a relaxing effect on you, just what you want... Beautiful views of the valley. Definitely worth the nice drive to see the beautiful view. Don't miss this one.

It's hard to describe in words how beautiful this panoramic view is... we drove as far as is possible on Waimea Canyon Rd. and then hiked a mile or so to see the north shore of the island. Cliffs are steep, so not recommended for small children. At this level, we were on par with the clouds, but lucked out... More

Keep riving after Waimea Canyon and you will encounter another gorgeous view on Kauai. This valley is at the end of the drive and worth the extra 15 mins it takes to get there. Maybe bring a light jacket especially in Winter as the temperature can be chilly up there.

If you are up sight seeing in the canyon anyways why not go a little further and take a peek down at the end of the Kalalau trail! Me and my wife had rented a jeep through costco (saving us a ton of money) so we drove up one day to see the end of the trail we were about... More

Was a nice road trip from Princeville. It was a little foggy when we first got there but we waited for the clearing and was very pretty.

On our first trip to Waimea Canyon in 2012 we stopped at the first lookout and turned around. Since we were staying in the North Shore the extra drive to Kalalau Lookout didn't seem worth it. This time we drove the extra 7 miles and were blown away by the stunning view at Kalalau lookout. We didn't take the 2... More

The lookout is nice, being able to drive up to it and see a spectacular view of the valley. However, take it a step further and do the hike that starts here. When at the lookout, if you look to your left you should see a slight break in the fence. There's a two mile trail that is amazing, and... More

We were very lucky the day we went. There wasn't a cloud in the sky and the views were picture perfect. The scenery is amazing and the drive up really exciting. This is a 'not to be missed' destination on this most lovely island.

This is the next to last stop on Hwy. 550. Worth stopping for the great views of th Napali Coast...plus they have restrooms after a long drive to get here. Easy walk and often a local from Nihau to give you stories of his Island.
