Nice spacious beach with some shade, a few fish and wildlife, and a dry cave across the road. Went snorkling and was a little disappointed by the amount of fish here, maybe it was the time of year that I went? Only a few fish in the water when I was swimming. I did see one large seal basking in the sun on the beach.

We were able to find a quiet shady spot on the left side under some trees. It was a longer walk than it looked to get to the other side where people were snorkling on the right. Sometimes the sand was quite hard to walk on, sinking and slipping under my feet and some of it was pebbly, but pretty. On the left side, there were more waves and people were fishing or surfing rather than swimming.

If you walk to the left, there are some rocks and the beach continues past the rocks - there was basically no one there! If you want seclusion, walk to the left. I saw some creepy black crabs on the rocks.

Parking was filling up fast when we arrived late morning. We got lucky to find a spot near the entrance by the bathrooms. Someone had parked next to us and went too far and got their car stuck in a dip, but were able to drive forward and reverse quickly to get themselves out. I was about to help push if that didn't work.

There is a pretty mountain that leads to the beginning of the Na Pali coast. A very scenic beach and surrounding area. There is a little stream leading to the ocean that kids were playing in.

An idyllic backdrop, crystalline water, ample sand, and even some coral to boot. Consummate snorkelers will tell you that there's not much color to the marine life and they're right. Your best bet is to have a close encounter with a honu. Even without the technicolor sea flora and fauna, it's a beach where one can spend hours enjoying the sun, sand, water, and scenery. Take advantage of the limited access via Kuhio Highway while it lasts to enjoy the crowd-free beach Monday - Saturday. Bring your own food and drink; there are only coconuts for sale around here.

To call this out of the way is an understatement, but its totally worth it. The beach is sweeping and beautiful. the water is crystal clear. and the snorkeling is very good.
We stayed about a half mile down the road and made it our nightly habit to have a Mai Tai and watch the sunset over Bali Hi

This is my favorite beach on Kauai. The snorkeling is safe because the beach is protected by a reef. We’ve seen eels, turtles, octopus, parrot fish, etc. If there is a non-swimmer in the family not to worry. The beach stays shallow enough for anyone who just wants to be in the water. A word of caution...parking is a beast. If you don’t arrive before 7am or after 4pm it’s unlikely you’ll be able to park on the tiny side roads. You’ve been warned.

We saw beautiful tropical fish snorkeling on our own at Tunnels beach. Parking was a little tricky, but the Kauaii Shaka Guide gave details of where to find parking. We went around 2 PM and found a spot.

Both times we visited, the surf conditions precluded any kinds of water activity - snorkeling, boogie-boarding, or swimming. It’s a nice drive, there’s a cool cave, but if your intention is to get wet, then maybe not the best place to visit. Huge waves on our second visit had even the diehard surfers sitting at the lifeguard station in awe. Not my kind of beach - can’t imagine a calm day here.

This is a great beach for swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, and sun tanning. Parking is at a premium so get there early and don't move you car once you have a spot. Take advantage of the local shore scuba diving and get to see and experience the underwater tunnels, lava tubes and caverns at this site. Was one of two best places for shore diving that we experienced in our 11 days on the island. Give Fathom Five Divers a call.

Visited three times on our trip. had great snorkeling the third time. The first time a tiger shark was sighted and the beach was closed to swimming. They are out there so just be aware! The surge and tides can be difficult depending on the time of year but the fish were huge!

If you go, make sure you try and get parking in the main area near the cave. We parked down the road and had to walk all the way back up the beach to enter the safe swimming area with the life guard. Be sure to also check the wave conditions! We failed to do this every day, and were always met with rough waters. Never found a good day for snorkeling.

Came here in early March to see the views. The waves were HUGE, so kids couldn't really get in and play, but it was such a beautiful, secluded beach that it didn't really matter. We went over the far left where there is a little lagoon that the kids could play in. We watched some very braver surfers and climbed over the rocks to another very secluded area. It was really a beautiful way to spend an afternoon. I think bringing a drink and taking a long walk here would also be very enjoyable.
