Great Beach Park, Arrive Early.

The water is excellent here. The view from the bluff at the western end of the eastern park is awesome. Great spot for kids to learn how to surf.

My 12 and 13 year old daughters loved the body boarding waves here, but I didn't feel comfortable with the roughness of the waves even in June. I asked the lifeguard if it was safe, and he gave me a funny look & said if I was asking it probably wasn't safe for us. Well, the travel books & all... More

My husband and I stopped at this beach area around noon and were surprised by the number of people on the beach and the full parking area. (We did find a spot.) It appeared to be a popular state park area. It had a life guard, bathrooms, and an outside showering area. Many families were there with their children. We... More

Our directions said to "keep going until you cross the stream" and it's true - the highway ends just a short way beyond this beach park and that can make parking a challenge so you might have to walk a bit. The snorkeling is really good - we saw sea turtles, octopus and a ton of fish. The beach is... More

Follow Kuhio Hwy (Rt. 56) west out of Hanalei to this state park. The distance is short, but the narrow and winding road will take some time. Enjoy the views and other beaches along the way! This park has restrooms and running water, and has a great beach. Also has some pretty good surf, as we discovered when we waded... More

I can't say enough about the beauty of Kauai in general, and their State Parks like this one are kept so well, better than some on O'Ahu last year! This one provides breath-taking views and amazing sights below the waterline!

The sea caves down here are simply amazing. There are dry and wet caves as you drive from the beach park to the end of the road. During the winter the beaches are filled with surfers and it is not safe to swim.

At the end of the highway, lies this amazing state park. Start early though, because parking lots fill up by 9am! We arrived at the park at 8am, and were quickly on the trail-- trail head starts just off the parking lot. Make sure you wear tennis shoes--the trail is very rugged, but the scenery makes it so worth it.... More

This place is gorgeous, but unless you truly do not mind chickens surrounding you in ever-growing groups, eat your lunch elsewhere!

I understand it is a great place in the summer, but when we were there (March) the beach was closed because of rough seas.
