We were greeted with leis and mai tai cocktails under the beautiful sunset. The performance was adequate, but I was surprised to see blonde dancers depicting the Hawaiian history. I wasn’t expecting Broadway theater, so it was fun. The food in the buffet was luscious,...More

We love the Mauna Kea Hotel. The grounds and gardens are spectacular. The sunset was amazing. However, the music was fake Hawaiin music, no big drums. The singers were terrible. The hula costumes were fake. No fresh flowers or greens. A couple dancers were good...More

We are not authorities on what makes a good or great luau as this is only the second I’ve ever seen. It was entertaining, the food was good enough and it’s part of a Hawaiian vacation. So you’ve gotta do it! Other reviewers and our...More

I recommend getting the upgraded tickets so that you do not have to wait long in the line to enter and so you can sit up front to see the show which includes fire dancers. The food is above average luau fare served buffet style...More

The luau gardens at Mauna Kea are beautiful and we had a "green-flash" sunset view right from our table. You can pay more for the "premium" seats, which are closer to the stage and you get to see the imu ceremony where they remove the...More

Don’t miss this fabulous luau on the beach! This wan not a huge luau made for masses. It was a perfect size, very well executed. The food was delicious with a nice variety of mains, sides & desserts. A great place to celebrate special events....More

This was not our first luau. We've been to the Old Lahaina Luau on Maui twice. The prices were the same so we were expecting something similar. However, we were disappointed. Lahaina's food and service, along with the show and story line are far superior....More

I can't say enough great things about the luau. It's expensive yes, but totally worth it. The performances are fantastic, if you go early you can see them cook the pig. The food is delicious and so much of it. The drinks are refreshing and...More

I didn’t know they even had that option ... so don’t know how much it was. Show was what you would expect for any luau. They advertise great ocean view ... not much to see when it’s dark out.

On the big island you need to rent a car.. An uber will run you $50.. and that is the cost of a rental.. lots of stuff to see outside of your resort.. unless you are on your honeymoon
