One of the highlights of our vacation to the Big Island! Our group included riders with no experience through experienced riders and all felt this was an outstanding adventure! Group size was kept low (6 riders) and we were riding in hundreds of acres of wide-open ranchland in the mountains of Hawaii. The guide provided the perfect balance between great... More

Found these guys on the web when I was looking for something to do with our children in Hawaii. The other reviews I read were pretty good so we gave them a try. I expected some difficulties but mostly because my kids can get a bit timid when experiencing something for the first time. Wow!!! Was I impressed! Taking care... More

My pre-teen daughter and I took a private 3 hour picnic ride last week while my husband and son went on a tour up Mauna Kea. It was lightly drizzling when we arrived. The vibe there was very laid-back. I think my daughter's horse was named Coffee, and my horse was Polu. My daughter is a beginner rider and her... More

We came to the Big Island for our honeymoon, and I was looking for interesting and different things for us to do when I found Paniolo Adventures. I chose the Picnic Ride because it seemed like the best one for the price. The ranch was easy to find (a nice sign out front) and plenty of parking. They offered us... More

The horses are beautiful and you get two experienced riders to help you enjoy a sunset on horseback. They will even provide you with gear if you want to look and feel as if you are in an old west film.

We booked the morning 2 1/2 hour trail ride over the phone. We found the ranch easily after a very scenic drive from Kona. We were greeted warmly, offered bottled water and cowboy boots, all of which were gratefully accepted. Kirsten was our wrangler and she quickly had stirrups adjusted and our crew mounted. Her abilities were tested by the... More

We've ridden in Waipio twice and this was our first "ranch-style" ride on the Big Island. I would easily recommend Paniolo over the rain forest/valley style rides. The country-side and views are gorgeous, the guides let you canter and trot (Waipio is strictly a walk), and the lunch was tasty (we did the picnic ride). Its also closer to the... More

The views of the ocean were spectacular from the mountain and the ride was as described. Nothing more, but nothing less. A small saddle bag is attached to the saddle so you can bring your cameras with you. They won't allow you to ride with purses or bags. You are also given a bottle of water to take with you.... More

We did the Sunset ride as a family activity in April 2016. This was overall an excellent experience for all of us. Gary was our guide and he did a great explanation of how to ride the horses, important for newer riders. The horses were very well-trained, and easy to ride. They were in excellent condition as well, and not... More
