Worth the drive. Make sure you give your self lots of time to enjoy the drive and stop to take pictures. It’s really amazing to see the lava flows down the mountain.

Drove most of this road. Too bad we had a really cold rainy day. Very interesting seeing the different craters and reading about when they were formed. Hopefully next time the sun will be shining :)

I would say 3 to 4 hours of you don't want to feel rushed. My recommendation is to book a night at the National Park Lodge (crater view so you can see the lava glow in the dark) and then spend the followon morning on chain... More
