Awesome gardens.

For a donation you get a pretty cool experience. This place has gardens inside and out and walking trails. A lot of plants were in bloom when we went in the middle of June.

My husband and I took our youngest son on an outing for just the 3 of us. We spent two hours just strolling along the trails. We just loved leisurely walking through so many diverse areas. Our youngest was just enthralled with the many flowers that were in bloom throughout.

The State Botanical Gardens should be high on your list of things to see and do when you visit Athens. The place is beautiful and exceptionally well maintained. It offers easy to walk pathways and a marvelous display of flowers, plants and trees. Plus, they have a summer concert schedule, outdoors, with local musical groups once a month.

I love being only 15 minutes away from this garden. I often take my lunch time and walk through. Such an enjoyable place!

We visited the facility to look at the day lily display. The garden is a superb venue. We also visited the gift shop and toured some of the grounds. It was an enjoyable visit.

This is the best place to walk in town (Athens). Great trails, some riverside. There is fabulous conservatory with exotic plants, a lunch bar, and meeting rooms.

The gardens are beautiful, but in June the heat feels like it will kill you. Thankfully, there is plenty of shade, and the inside conservatory is air conditioned. There is a nice little cafe on site so it would make a good place to sit for lunch while enjoying the gardens. The staff was very friendly. If you are in... More

I highly recommend the State Botanical Garden of Georgia for those that love gardens and nature hikes. It has plenty of parking (three lots), five gardens, and eight largely wooded trails (ranging from 0.12 miles to 3.22 miles) for everyone to enjoy. It's also free (they accept donations, but do not pressure you to do so). There is also a... More

I live near this garden and go for walks here all the time. The garden has beautiful plants all the time (winter you can still go to the green house and see flowers). Lots of plant variety. The hiking trail is easy to walk and beautiful too. Plenty of native plant variety. There is a small creek where I did... More
