We went canopying in the Pico Bonito rainforest with Roberto (I forget the other guide’s name) through Jungle River Lodge, and had an awesome time! They were full of stories about the forest and showed us some really fascinating flora and fauna, including how to eat termites (!). The canopying includes some short hikes, including one to a small waterfall deep in the forest. Safety and instructions were top notch. The canopy cables through the forest and above the river are really thrilling. Must do while in La Ceiba!

I extremely enjoyed the zip line. It was a hike up but well worth it. They stopped on the way to educate on plants, trees, and insects. Very very worth it and the zip line view was incredible from overseeing the water and the trees.

I used Jungle River as a place to stay while exploring Pico Bonito. It was only a short walk up the road the the bridge into the park, Food and aaccomodations were basic and very inexpensive. The zipline and raft tours are right there. Plenty of cold beer and even some decent wine at night,

Nice view of river, nice spot for lunch after river rafting and before hike to water fall. $40 for simple lunch for four. We were the only ones there. Rafting was average, relatively short, two hours. Hike to water fall is nice, relatively long. The suspension bridge is nice.

I arranged three days in advice for a 1/2 day rafting trip with pick-up at the Utila Princess ferry. Everything well documented and very clearly understood by JRL that they would pick us up at arrival. We waited for 1 hour after we arrived by ferry and they never came. We planned the entire two days for this excursion. We luckily were able to catch the night bus to San Pedro Sula and change our itinerary. DO NOT REPLY ON THEIR COURTESY PICK-UP. THEY RULED OUR PLANS.

Despite heavy rains and flooding the week before, Oscar and staff had the lodge area cleaned up and amazingly, the small pools cleaned and filled for our second day there. Ronald helped us out the previous night in La Ceiba with a room at the hostel when previous reservation at another hotel was cancelled (an interesting story in itself) and Pablo picked us up the following morning for the Jungle Adventure. Great Canopy tour, hiking, whitewater rafting and the sunsets and sunrises were fantastic. Good food, good drink, reasonably priced and many good memories. Oscar brought in a TV for the Honduras - El Salvador qualifier our last night there with a diverse, lively crowd in attendance. Kudos to Juan Carlos, Wilmer and Alejandro who made the visit memorable with personal attention and shared knowledge of area flora and fauna. I'll visit again.

Right on the river, unbelievable views. Warm water, good meals, great prices, lots to do! Took my daughter and we rafted, ziplined, hiked and visited nearby resorts. Juan Carlos was a great guide and showed us edible plants and insects, and encouraged me when I couldn't climb like he could up a rock over rushing water!

Me and my cousin stopped. Here. Very nice people. Nice guests.
My father died shortly after arriving. I also have a cpap machine so could not stay in the dorm. They were nice enough to upgrade to private for a reasonable fee.
We jumped off rocks into the river. It wasnt quit rainy season but did white water rafting. It was still fun for a low grade 3 rating since others were not open. It would be nice to stay for at least 2 nights.

This was great. The swimming, jumping and walking the river before was unique and challenging but gets the adrenalin pumping. Rafting was ace. Felt safe the whole time with experienced guides and good number of guides to tourists (2 tourists to 1 guide per boat). Food was nice but predictably expensive (for backpacker budget) at the lodge but if you walk 45 mins up to village El Naranjo, there are a few tiendas selling combos of 2 baleadas or 2 pastelitos with a drink for 30lempiras (and water is cheaper here)! We got some to take away for dinner and on the walk back we saw loads of toucans in the trees - you can't complain! Nice to distribute the money around the locals too. Roland from jungle lodge was a great host.

I did the white water rafting tour here and it was really awesome and very cheap. I rafted at omega the day before which was also great but I preferred the crowd here younger and more up for beers and some card games after. Omega is a bit more up market. The guides were very safe and made sure everyone had a good time. The lodge is situated right on the water as well so you can jump into the river off a ledge straight down into the current/Rapids or into the "green gully" opposite which we decided to name ourselves. There are also a number of free walking trails, one requires a $7 bridge fee but then you see the bridge you won't mind paying. Beers are cheap ($40) but I would advise taking some rum and snacks as there isn't much in the way of food outside breakfast, lunch and dinner which were all quite small portions. There's a small shop up the road and a place to buy cheap street food but it's a 20-30 minute walk. The dorm rooms are free for the night and are very basic but do the job. You can upgrade to a private for less than $10. They will even give you a ride to and from la ceiba that saves you 15/20 bucks each way in a cab or riding the local bus. I met some cool people here and we all headed to Utila afterwards so it's a good place to meet a few like minded folk if you a running solo. I would recommend to other travellers as this is a really cheap awesome experience you should not miss!
Ps. Take your GOPRO and a helmet strap (~they do have one helmet with a mount) and you can get some great videos.
