Great insight in to a traditional farm
May 2021
We were recomended this trip by our hotel and we're really glad we took their advice.

We were escorted on horseback all around the very large traditionally run mixed farm by the farm owner, Carlos. He and his head stock hand showed us how they were running a diverse business which farmed everything from beef cattle through to teak wood, coffee and cardamom.

We rode around the farm for a number of hours and all the time Carlos pointed out the interesting fauna and flora and told us about the history of the area.

Once we were done with the tour we enjoyed an amazing meal cooked fresh for us using ingreadients from the farm and the local area.

This is an experience worth doing and something you won't forget in a hurry!!

Amazing views and a glimpse into the real rural Central America experience
Nov 2020
What an amazing day! From meeting the owner Carlos to being guided by the incredibly knowledgeable Josue and Don Arnurfo around the finca on horse (a real ride not just a trail ride). We saw amazing vistas, unique plants and interesting sustainable agriculture. To top it off back at the house we had a home made lunch (a feast is a better description) of almost completely ingredients from their finca. I will be back and hope others get to go too.

FANTASTIC!!!!
Jan 2020
Finca el cisne is rated #7 in things to do while in Copan, but after visiting Copan for 15 years, and doing all the possible experiences, I would rate it as #1.... the people, the food, the learning, the exciting possibilities. Carlos is the BEST host- funny, knowledgeable, polite, thoughtful....
We felt like we were pampered Honduran style and our groups were 28 and 23 people.

Do NOT miss this opportunity to learn from a family that is giving its all to Honduras- their country that they love

Great Experience
Dec 2019
Three of us had a wonderful visit to Finca el Cisne. Carlos is an excellent host and really gave us an insider/behind the scenes look at the entire coffee and cocoa growing and processing system. He is both knowledgeable and entertaining. We also appreciated how he and his family are contributing to the community through establishment of a school and pursuing environmentally appropriate farming techniques. While it is a 50 minute drive outside of Copan it is well worth the trip. We were also happy to contribute to the business by purchasing some excellent coffee beans and ground cocoa.

Best experience in Honduras if not in all of Central America
Dec 2019 • Friends
In four weeks around Central America, this was by far the best experience we had. Carlos is a cultivated guide with an impressive knowledge about the nature, his country and farming. He did everything to make our day as comfortable as possible. The drive up to the Finca itself is impressive as it Leads through different climate zones and gives you an insight into the local communities. At the Finca you’ll get a feeling how sustainable agriculture works. The horse ride was the best I experienced in all of Latin America. On well treated, beautiful horses you’ll ride through an impressive landscape and at the same time get a feeling of how the local cowboys work. Afterwards you’ll get a delicious meal cooked by Doña Irma and finally you can relax in the beautiful natural springs, probably the best way to end such a day. All in all we were more than happy with the service and will recommend it 100%. There is no better way of getting to know Honduran hospitality and culture!

Honduras Visit 2019
Dec 2019 • Solo
It is a working farm. I learned a lot more about growing and marketing coffee and cacao and cardamom. The Castejon family are superb hosts, and Carlos is warm, gracious, very knowledgeable, and an excellent teacher and tour guide. The scenery was fabulous, you could get as close to the flora and fauna as you care to, the food and drink was authentic if not home-made, and uniformly well prepared and presented. I visited to preview a medical clinic in Agua Caliente as a possible site for a mission trip in 2021, find out how they set up a communication tower for high-speed internet access, and get more familiar with coffee and cacao farming practices. My expectations were exceeded in all 3 efforts. This place deserves closer to a 99% 5-star rating...IMHO😎

Wonderful host and great tour!
Feb 2019
For most of our group this was the best thing we did in Copan. Carlos picked us up after breakfast in his pickup and took us to the farm. Everyone from our twenty-something son to my active 80's mother had a great time. All enjoyed the two hour horseback tour of the farm, learning about the coffee and cacao, and asking Carlos lots of questions! The coffee harvest had begun so we got to see how the berries are processed and the beans dried to make top quality coffee. We had a delicious lunch and the hot springs trip after the farm tour was a wonderful bonus! I'd do it again!!

Absolutely Fantastic Eco Tour!
Nov 2019 • Friends
Six of us decided to tour the farm as we were interested in their eco tourism program. They have a small coffee plantation as well as cocoa and cardamon. Carlos, the owner showed us all around the plantation and we had an amazing lunch following the tour. Time didn’t allow for a horseback ride, but I will save that for next time! What a stellar job! It is rustic and you will walk a bit on uneven ground and climb stairs on this tour. I recommend long pants and a long sleeve shirt.

The best day spent in Copan!
Aug 2019
Carlos was so warm and accommodating! He picked us up at our hotel to drive to his farm, Finca el Cisne. We learned all about the coffee and cacao processes. We went for a wonderful ride on horses for over 2 hours in the mountains. We learned about many different plants and fruits. The views were amazing!! The horses were well-kept and a pleasure to ride. We came back to the farm and there was a DELICIOUS lunch made from everything local. We come from the island of Roatan and we were so pleased at the variety and freshness of the food- it was fit for a gourmet restaurant! Everyone we met on the farm was very, very nice. The trip is topped off with spending a relaxing and beautiful place at the Luna Jaguar hot springs. It truly was the best of the 5 days spent in Copan!

Wonderful day trip
May 2019 • Couples
It may be the horseback riding that draws most people so I will start there. The horses are Peruvian mix of Andalusian and Paso, small in size but offer a smooth ride, strength, and stamina. These are working horses who occasionally are ridden by guests, rather than broken trail horses. I am an experienced horseman, so I was thrilled to meet the horses and the wranglers and see the good health and quality care that the horses receive. Maybe a bit TMI, but this means you get a good horseback riding experience, and the horses have good lives on the ranch. Beyond the horses, you will be treated to amazing scenery on the ranch and the mountains beyond. Josua was our guide, and he is knowledgable, personable, and speaks great English. We highly recommend this experience for people of all ages.
