Copan Sculpture Museum was built over a weak foundation. You can notice cracks near the beautiful entrance tunnel. The Rosa Lila Pyramid replica is amazing. But due to the same problem: weak foundation, it shows cracks, too. Ticket price seemed too expensive for me.

I enjoyed the museum, but then I like most museums. The long tunnel leading to the museum itself created a sense of mystery. Some of the pieces in the museum were replicas (the large red temple in the center gives one a good idea of...More

This museum is next to the car park and you can buy a combined ticket for the ruins and the museum. It is built into the side of the mountain and when you enter you walk along a tunnel and then it opens out into...More

These are all sculptures that have come from the ruins themselves and moved to protect them from the elements. Many I might not have noticed at the ruins themselves because they were small or hidden by something else. I appreciated the full scale model of...More

We were exhaustedly the time we got to the museum but the sculptures shouldn't be missed. It is an unusual museum and well maintained. Definitely worth the time.

Wow, what a fabulous museum, with an entrance simulating one of the tunnels under Copan ruins, and then opening up into a huge room with a full-size replica of the bright red Rosalila! Some of the original sculptures are here, with replicas in the park....More

You enter the museum through a long tunnel, not knowing what to expect. It opens into a huge, light-filled area with a full sized recreation of a Mayan temple right before you. You can spiral through the exhibits, seeing sculptures and artifacts from the ruins....More

Some of the stelae on the Copan site are original and some are replicas. The originals are usually under roofs to protect them from further damage from the weather. However, this makes them harder to photograph. The ones in the museum are much easier to...More
