Hi! Traveling through Honduras is pretty safe - keeping in mind to stay away from sketchy areas and being out during late hours. We recommend either flying from San Pedro Sula or catching the Hedman Alas bus from the airport to La Ceiba then the ferry over to the island. Utila is very safe - you have nothing to worry about here!
