I was lucky to have Ricardo as my coach, he was funny, strict, and patient. I recommend this place and would defenetly come back for more learning . Shout out to captain Charlie, he's the realest and always made me feel confortable in the boat. Everybody was friendly and welcoming and this is a safe, budget friendly dive school in utila.

I pre-booked a 5 day fun dive package with lodging for a trip in April, and paid USD$100 deposit for this on February 1st. Now due to the current environment and travel restrictions because of Covid-19 it was going to be physically impossible for me to travel to Honduras, but also unsafe. Therefore I emailed Ecomarine on March 14th informing them I had to regrettably cancel my trip because of the situation. I asked if it would be possible for my deposit to be refunded in light of this. Chris from Ecomarine replied on March 17th giving me 2 options: 1) move reservation to future dates or put on hold at the moment, 2) refund my deposit via Paypal. At this point I was very pleased with their response, as I understand it is a difficult time for both consumers and businesses alike. I went with the second option as everything is so uncertain and I did not know when I would be able to re-arrange my trip. We are now April 27th and I am yet to receive my refund. The last response I have had from Ecomarine was April 2nd, after I sent them an e-mail on March 31st, telling me his boss was a little busy these days but would get round to it. I was patient and waited. April 16th I sent an email. No response. April 25th I sent another email. Still no response. I then tried calling them and the lady who picked up the phone did not speak any english and repeatedly hung up on me. I simply do not understand how it can take over a month to do a Paypal transfer. Nor do I understand why it seems they have disappeared off the face of the earth and are not replying. This is extremely poor customer service, and not only am I disappointed, but I have completely lost all my patience and trust in this company. It seems Ecomarine are great when everything is going well, but they are unable to manage difficult and unexpected situations. And this, to me, is what would qualify a company as 5 stars.

I don't think there's a better way to explain EcoMarine than friends turned family. We found the dive shop on Google when looking for a place that offered smaller, more personal classes and they came with exceptional reviews. Our Open Water course (3 students) was punctuated by a tropical storm, a cold and a classmate with different learning needs and each situation was handled with professionalism and kindness. There wasn’t any time where we felt like our instructor, Ricardo, was pressuring us to rush ahead with classes or not putting our wellbeing as his first priority. It was a no brainer for us to move forward into the Advanced course (class was just the 2 of us) and we weren't surprised that our next instructor, David was another complete professional. He communicated with Ricardo to make sure we were ready and it was pretty amazing to see how much we had improved since we first arrived, especially with our neutral buoyancy and general confidence in the water. This is not a dive shop that simply churns out certification after certification. You can tell that every single team member loves what they do and they want you to fall in love with scuba as well! Every single dive of ours, instructed or fun, over our three week stay was fantastic! They also care deeply about the environment and work hard to teach practices that will help our ocean and earth last. The seahorses (and all of the other amazing wildlife) living under the dock are an added bonus! If you land on Utila and haven't chosen your shop, find EcoMarine on the dock and have them take you for a visit. (They won't be the ones in your face, pressuring a sale.) We can't wait to come back to visit and explore the Utila underwater world even more! Ricardo, David, Chris, Julie, Aldo, Danny, Gustavo, Leanne and Ray - thank you!! We love you EcoMarine!

We had the best time at Ecomarine! Since we walked in we felt home, the staff is very welcoming and helpful. I did my open water and I felt very good with then that I went for the advanced straight away. My instructor Leanne has been great, very professional in the classroom and in the underwater world. I learnt a lot from all the other instructors too as they are always sharing experiences, giving precious advice and information. I miss this everyday. We also went on a trip to a little cay nearby and it has been unbelievable. Highly recommended! I'll go back in the future. Ah, and they have seahorses under the dock!

We went to Utila just to relax and for some fun diving (we are already experienced divers). Ecomarine definitely is a very good choice for fun diving, they usually run trips for fun divers without the dive courses. Also they keep the diving groups small, we never had more than 4 divers with a guide. Their guides are very friendly, helpful and generally the atmosphere at the dive center is very relaxed.
